Edgy I like your card but I fear some of the young lads might not be able to handle the beer and might be shot by the morning....

Too lazy to write it, so I cut & pasted Edgy's with giving Franco a game at 3B and Green a game at 1B...and had a little fun with 2B...

Apparently Edgy knows better than I how to motivate participation in contests with the prizes people desire.

SS - A National League East Champion New York Met
C - A National League East Champion New York Met
CF - A National League East Champion New York Met
1B - A National League East Champion New York Met
3B - A National League East Champion New York Met
LF - A National League East Champion New York Met
RF - A National League East Champion New York Met

Put 'em in whatever order you like. They're all champs.

Funny thing is the Mets have only seven infielders, so one of the regulars has to play, unless they have the gonads to start Julio Franco at third and put an outfielder at first.

Why not?

Julio Franco has been taking grounders at 3B this month in case he's needed there...Don't want to see him there in the playoffs, but might as well see if the grounders paid off...

To use a quote that I found a couple weeks ago and used as my sig line elsewhere:
]Julio Franco on playing an infield position that he hasn't played in years:
“Ground balls are ground balls,” Franco said.
Subway: "It isn't Rocket Science".

And Shawn Green is an experienced 1st baseman, having played 1st base 125 games there since 2004...he was the Dodgers starting 1st baseman for over 100 games that season...IMO, he's more in the Ledee/Tucker/Woody grouping than Chavez is, he can play today...he needs as many at bats that don't count as he can get to try to fix his swing...

Sorry. I still want these guys to show that they can hit a lefty starter. Once they've shown that, they can rest for a few games. B'sides

Reyes - SS - he still needs 4 triples to join Wilie Mays in rarefied territory.
Milledge - LF - get him all the at bats they can give him
Beltran - CF - Get his average up vs lefties
Wright - 3B - The thought of anyone else at third scares me.
Delgado - 1B - His first post season. He's enjoying this.
Green - RF - see Beltran
Woodward - 2B - At his age, Valentin needs some rest
RHernandez - C - Why not let the ex-UCONN catcher have his dream?
Glavine - P

plus Reyes needs 1 dinger and DW needs 1 steal to join the 20/20 club...may not be as big of a deal as Soriano being a 40/40 guy...but for a non-power hitter to get there and a non-fastguy to get there would be pretty sweet...

If they do send Franco out to third, I imagine Tucker can play first also, and give the Mets and all-reserve cast.

thats what i was going for, but i didn't know if Tucker or Ledee had any experience at 1b. I'd also like to see Green play 1b, for more flexibility.

but here's an all reserve team (vs LHP):

CF Chavez
2B Woodward
RF Milledge
3B Franco
1B Tucker
C Stinnett
LF Ledee
SS Hernandez

Actual scores awarding everybody 11 points for every guy they have correct minus 1/18th of a point for every spot they are off in the batting order and 1/18th of a point for every spot they are off in the field (assuming those guys who listed no pitcher assumed Glavine was a given):

Edgy DC: 77.71
Frayed Knot: 0.00
