It took the Mets a little longer than anticipated, but now they can officially call themselves, "2006 Division Champions". Tired of looking at champagne, Steve Trachsel and Jose Valentin took matters into their own hands to lead the Mets charge to victory.
Trachsel pitched 6+ innings of shut out baseball while Valentin was busy torching Moehler with a pair of home runs. From there, the bullpen did their usual fine job and all that was left to do was celebrate.
Tonight is special, so there shall be no beer. What can I say, I'm a traditionalist. Tonight, it's Dom Perignon for everyone.
