Mets up 3 - 0 on a bases loaded double by Delgado.

Niceage!

EARLY RUNS! EARLY RUNS!

Reyes - walk
LoDuke - walk
Beltran - bunt hit (scored an error but they're idiots)
Delgado - bases-clearing double

Off - fense?

What is this "off - fense" you speak of? I'm not familar with such a concept.

That was not as hard a catch as Andrueiuow made it out to be. It was up in the air forever.

Elster88
Sep 28 2006 07:56 PM

Holy fucking shit.

El Duque....to quote Lou Brown.

"Great catch, DONT EVER FUCKING DO IT AGAIN"

as he barehands a grounder up the middle.

Nice week's worth of offense in the first.

I'd like another week in the second.

Fucking stupid!

Why send Reyes? All well and all, but Jesus Christmas, that's the last thing we need.

Sep 28 2006 08:09 PM

i dunno that i buy that obliterating the catcher is all that safe either, seems like a collision of any kind is bad news for a guy reyes' size.

Edgy DC
Sep 28 2006 08:10 PM

Duque risks himself with a play. Reyes with a slide.

You hate the risks, but it's good to see them reminding themselves how to play playoff ball.

4-0.

martin
Sep 28 2006 08:10 PM

although i guess i can accept that if you hit the catcher in the upper body you wont get the armored knee to the chest that reyes keeps getting.

For a second I thought he was hurt...Acta sent him tonight but not last night.

I wonder how aware Jose is that he's two steals away from a club record, and if he is, how much he cares?

KC
Sep 28 2006 08:12 PM

Yeah, I don't get testing the arm of Jones on a play like that and Reyes
really needs to learn how to protect himself and go agressively into home
plate instead of sliding through brick walls.

Amen, brother. Yet another reason I wouldn't have sent him.

He's so fast he hasn't learned how to slide yet.

I'm sure he's very aware and judging by the 7 steals in the last 5 or 6 games, I think he cares plenty.

I have absolutely no problem with El Duque being our game one starter.

Yancy Street Gang
Sep 28 2006 08:26 PM

No, me neither. He's our guy.

Who woulda thunk it?

TransMonk
Sep 28 2006 08:28 PM

Delgado walked on 3 pitches?

KC
Sep 28 2006 08:30 PM

I might even start calling him El Duque, don't tell anyone.

Edgy DC
Sep 28 2006 08:32 PM

The fourth ball was called when the pitcher blew on his hand.

Edgy DC
Sep 28 2006 08:35 PM

Pat Coralles taking over for Bobby Cox. He first managed in 1978.

If the Braves come back and win, it'd be his first victory since 1987.

TransMonk

Great at-bat by Woodward. Fouls some off, works the walk, clears the pitcher. Excellent!

TransMonk
Sep 28 2006 08:52 PM

El Duque shames the rookie with the sloe stuff to end the 3rd.

Oh we're the boys of the chorus we hope you like our show
We know you're rooting for us but now we have to go

What's up doc, what's cooking
What's up doc, are you looking
For Bugs Bunny's bunting doc has gone a-hunting
Just to get a rabbit's skin but now that rabbit's gone again
What's up doc, what's cooking

You're gonna hurt someone, with that old shotgun
Hey what's up doc??
We really mean it

He'll always be Orlando Hernandez to me.

Delgado doubles home another run.

Finally a game for which it will be easy to give out some Schaefer.

I'm still waiting for Keith to apologize for that geographical error when he tried to name the states ("it borders the most") that border Missouri. He forgot both Iowa and Nebraska, IIRC. Plus Tennessee borders just as many.

Robocop in for the 6th.

Hernandez for Hernandez.

Promptly gives up a hit to Tony Pena.

One more Hernandez in to play short in the 7th.

7-3 bottom 9.

A. Jones deposits Wagner's first pitch into the centerfield seats to make it 7-4.

Glad Billy got that out of his system.

Second guy in tonight's game to hit his 41st homer of the season.

Edgy DC

Jones is just the sort of guy who Wagner is vulnerable to.

Just the sort of guy Duaner isn't vulnerable to.

He did actually.
They re-visited that question in the booth during a game maybe two weeks ago.
He def fessed up to messing up the number of states touching Missouri but I don't think they mentioned Tennessee
