Beltran Perez is a great name. The Mets supastar centerfielder and the overmatched guy he kinda sorta replaced.

We used to make up names for the nameless Strat-O-Matic cards they'd give you for fringe players. We had a backup catcher named Mookie Strawberry.

I'm heading out to tonight's game in a few minutes.

On the SNY pre-game show the studio guy was giving a round up of what to expect on the show - " We have an interview with frank Robinson who's managing his last few games in DC"...I've heard all the speculation but has there been an official announcement?

To answer my own question, the Nats held a press conference today to announce that Robinson will not be back.

My 13-year-old found the President races to be amusing, even though he recognized them to be a blatant rip-off of the Sausage Races.

Viva Castro!

10-0 Mets :)

Julio Franco is a triple short of the cycle.

I'm willing to venture to guess that if he does get that triple, he'd be the oldest person ever to cycle.

I love it, Franco was not supposed to start but has been freaking amazin...I'm feeling better about next week, Glavine was great...

Franco wasn't supposed to BE here TODAY!

I'm glad to have Castro back in time for the playoffs. His presence helps to strenghthen the bench. There is such a big drop off from Castro to DeFelice or Stinnett.

Tommy G shutting it down for the regular season. Okay, Pen, lets get him # 290

MK walked into the room to check in on the game, and said, "this is a promising score."

We're really kicking ass tonight, so much so that Wright's into it.

I'd wager that the lineup tomorrow will resemble the lineup for the post-clinching game!

Can the Mets bring Humber and Pelfrey back?

I'm not kidding, could they actually do that?

I dunno Steve, 97 wins would be nice.

Not suggesting that they shouldn't TRY, I'm saying that none of the A team will be playing, including a starting pitcher who's next start in a Met uni will be in Florida March of 2007

That was the way to spend the evening at the ballpark.

I don't know if y'all caught it, but those of us left for the home ninth turned the entire half inning into a standing O for Frank Robinson.

Beautiful weather, a salute to a Hall of Famer, while your team ruthlessly pricks his gonfalon bubble. Nice.

Saw it Edgy and SNY showed it all.....very cool and Robinson gave the love back...51 years in the game...amazin.

Now THAT'S funny.

I think you'll see a more-or-less reg lineup tomorrow. Just, like today, they'll start filing out in mid-game.
Oliver Perez to start.

Name chain:
Mookie Wilson -- Wilson Delgado -- Carlos Delgado -- Carlos Beltran -- Beltran Perez -- Oliver Perez -- Darren Oliver
