The Mets in the NLDS
Yancy Street Gang Sep 26 2006 10:50 AM |
Soon the Mets will be playing in their third National League Divison series. They've played eight NLDS games, all in 1999 and 2000, winning 6 and losing 2.

Do you think you could release this thread in handy book form, so we can keep it near the TV?

So far Mota has tied the wins record and Wagner the saves record.

In one NLDS (4 games), Rickey reached nine times, stole six bases, and scored five times.

Meanwhile, tonight Tom Glavine will be added to the list of players who can be included in this bit of Mets trivia that smg58 nailed so impressively a few months ago.

Glavine's starting tonight? Ugh! I suppose it's inevitable but still, ugh...

I don't understand.

WP isn't the biggest Glavine fan in the world.

Thanks Steve, but he's stll been our best starter this year. Hopefully he'll start winning WP over tonight.

Glavine in August & September: 9 GS, 57.3 IP, 3.46 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 6.28 K/9, 2.20 BB/9, 0.63 HR/9 Compared to his career: 635 GS, 4149.7 IP, 3.46 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 5.38 K/9, 3.03 BB/9, .70 HR/9 Glavine sucked in June & July, but he's been hot for 2 months. The only number there that's not better than his career average is IP/GS, and not by a lot: 6.37 IP compared to 6.54. Let's keep rollin', Tommy!

When Glavine leaves the game in the 5th inning after walking half-a-dozen Dodgers and allowing a couple of longballs, you'll understand.

He's not gonna do that! This is the playoffs!

And Billy Wagner is your new all-time Mets NLDS saves leader!
|
Yancy Street Gang Oct 06 2006 09:21 AM |
He shattered the record!
|
Frayed Knot Oct 06 2006 09:22 AM |
Wow! That must mean he's like clutch and stuff.

And another double by David Wright will tie a record.

Mets won their third Divisional Series in three tries, snapping a tie with the Florida Marlins for most series wins without dropping a series (yeah small sample size, but still)

My guess: Texas?
|
SteveJRogers Oct 10 2006 10:49 PM |
Yup. And all three, 1996, 1998 and 1999 to the New York Yankees
|
Frayed Knot Oct 10 2006 10:55 PM |
Houston lost 7 straight w/o winning one - although that streak is no longer active - finally breaking through in 2004 & 2005
|
SteveJRogers Oct 10 2006 11:10 PM |
7 straight postseason series though. That includes the 1980 and 1986 NLCSs
