Pedro & Cliff back in NYC

Pedro presumably to get his calf checked out, Cliff to get a cortisone shot for his pesky achilles tendon. Oh yeah, this is the way I wanted to go into the playoffs

Pedro had an MRI today..he's done for the season....he has a tear in his LEFT leg thigh.....

Chris Cotter on SNY.....Pedro is out 4 to 6 weeks ,the tear is not on the injured right leg but the left leg....they think it happened in the game last night......

I don't think no Pedro will be any worse than hurting Pedro for what it's worth. The Mets dominated the league this year without Pedro...or at least a healthy Pedro. They'll just have to keep playing like they have all year.

Well, no one can really be shocked that there will be no Pedro and we all knew that he was big risk for the length of contract given if he never returns the investment. Ok, dark clouding into the next two years ... sorry. I think most of us agree that if we can get the bats back on track, the Mets at least should make some noise in October with the pitching they have.

Pedro has a great personality and with his resume is the great face of a franchise. He was one of the team MVPs in 2005. No doubt that Omar doesn't sign all those guys in the offseason without Pedro. So, no matter what happens over the next 2 years...the Pedro signing should be remembered as a good thing. That being said, the Mets record in Pedro's starts over the 2 years is barely over .500. He has either been injured or DL for over a year now. I believe the Mets still would have won the NL East had he not pitched a game this year. Had he been 100% all year, this team could have won 110 games...but as it went, Pedro had very little to do with the Mets on the field success in 2006. The national media will turn the Mets into automatic October underdogs based on this news (which is fine with me), but they aren't any worse than they have been all year without him. This changes nothing but TV ratings.

Dickshot you found the internet in Iowa?...so gary was saying tongiht that in order for Milledge to make the post-season roster he will have to replace an injured position player like...Floyd.

In the long term, this is actually good news. It would be worse if he were just decaying for some mysterious reason. Muscle tears happen, and people recover from them. While I'm alarmed at the frequency of his injuries, with the news of this specific injury, I can still imagine Pedro being productive for the Mets during the next two years. I'll add that even with the injury problems, going after Pedro was still the right thing to do. It changed players' perceptions about the Mets, and thereby paved the way for Beltran and Wagner, not to mention potential future signings.

Don't get me wrong, I love Pedro and wish he were coming to the postseason with the team and able to pitch because he's one of the best in the game when healthy. But I'll stand by my statement. When I look back on this season in 5 or 10 years Pedro won't be one of the first 20 names to come to mind for me. Unless I remember that he was injured most of the year.

Pedro now joins Sanchez, Nady and that David Wright guy as Mets who've disappeared since helping us to a great start.

We joke about Keith (I love him in the booth), but he said that Wright was doing too much back in early to mid-August in terms not resting and showing up everywhere he's requested to go ... and now he looks plum tired and un- focused to me 8 times out of 10 most games.

Oops. You guys can delete the new thread I just started. I missed this one initially. Regarding Wright, I honestly don't know what you guys are talking about. He's having a great September. 81 AB, .370 AVG / .429 OBP / .531 SLG / .959 OPS, 4 SB, 1 CS, 9 BB, 7 K Sure, he's only got 1 home run, but he's getting on base and he's hitting doubles. He's also got a 10-game hitting streak going. I'll take that.

Thanks for the stats, Rotblatt. As I pointed out yesterday in the Worries Here thread, the Mets offense has been struggling and there is almost a total lack of power by the team the past 2 weeks. Young David has suffered the power outage along with his teammates, but his performance hasn't otherwise been too bad at the plate. He just looks bad by association I guess. Wright, Reyes, LoDuca, and Chavez have had pretty good Septembers. The rest of the team has struggled. Beltran has been injured or ineffective most of September. Valentin and Green have struggled offensively. Delgado hasn't done much hitting for 2 weeks (last night being an exception). And poor Cliff Floyd, I love the guy, but he has never really found his stroke at the plate this season.
