I'm in Minneapolis this weekend, for some recreation completely unrelated to baseball. I walk past a bar, which is advertising "Rondell White Nights." In short, they're charging his batting average for a beer.

My hotel is right by the Metrodome, and there are lots of Twins fans here for the weekend. (And one guy with a Tigers shirt. I'm guessing he took a wrong turn.)

There was some backup catcher for the Mariners who some bar in or around Seattle adopted for a similar promotion a bunch of years back. That he had a typical backup backstop's low BA made it all that more enticing. As I recall, he was well aware of the promotion and took it with good humor.

Can't remember who it was.

So that's $.246 a beer?

Next round is on me.

More likely $2.46, but for a disturbingly large stretch of the season that would have been under $2. Not what you want from your starting DH when you non-tendered David Ortiz a few years back.

No time to be self -flagellating. They're taking their funky ballpark to the playoffs while the Sox go home.
