Why does the pregame show have Ron and Gary shown with a darkened Busch Stadium in the background? They had to have turned on the lights there ages ago.

When ya touch my hand
An' talk sweet talk
I got a knockin' in my knees
And a wobble in my walk

I'm tremblin'
And I'm shakin'

When ya take me in your arms
And talk romance
My heart starts doin' the St. Vitas dance

And I'm pantin'
And I'm shakin'

Early in the mornin' time
Late in the middle of the night
Whenever this chill comes over me
I wanna hug you with a-all-a my might,

And I'm sweatin'
And I'm shakin'

A chill an a fever
So I've been told
Makes your head spin around
An' your feet run cold

I got fever
An' I'm shakin'

Feel like I been run through the mill
I can't move around an' I can't stand still

I'm so jittery
And I'm shakin'

Samson was a mighty good man
Strongest in his day
Then along came Delilah an' clipped his wig
An' it looks like you took me
The same old way

So, I'm 'noy-vous'
An' I'm shakin'

A storm rocks a ship on a sea!
The wind shakes the leaves on a tree!
I'm like a nervous wreck
I'm all shook up
And that's what you are doin' to me

'Cause I'm jumpin'
An' I'm shakin'
An' I'm jumpin'
An' I'm shakin'

Sha-aaaa-kin'
Shakin', shakin', shakin'
Shakin', oh yeah!
I'm shakin'

Rosanna's daddy had a car she loved to drive
Stole the keys one night and took me for a ride
Turned up the music just as loud as it could go
Blew out the speakers in her daddy's radio

She was shakin' (oh oh ooo oh)
Snappin' her fingers (oh oh ooo oh)
She was movin' round and round (oh oh ooo oh)
That girl was shakin' (oh oh ooo oh)

We started drinkin' wasn't thinkin' too straight
She was doin' 80 and she slammed on the brakes
Got so high we had to pull to the side
We did some shakin' 'til the middle of the night

Shakin' (oh oh ooo oh)
Snappin' her fingers (oh oh ooo oh)
She was up and down and round and round
Shakin' (oh oh ooo oh)
Shakin' (oh oh ooo oh) (oh oh ooo oh)
(oh oh ooo oh) (oh oh ooo oh)

I got a little nervous
When she took her coat off
She looked so pretty
Ahh yeah

I'm always talkin' baby talkin' too much
I love that little girl and I just can't get enough
It takes a lonely night with nowhere to go
Just call Rosanna, it's a hell of a show

And she's shakin' (oh oh ooo oh)
Snappin' her fingers (oh oh ooo oh)
She'll be movin' round and round (oh oh ooo oh)
Oh she's shakin' (oh oh ooo oh)

Shakin' (oh oh ooo oh)
Snappin' her fingers (oh oh ooo oh)
She'll be movin' up and down (oh oh oo oh)
Round and round and round (oh oh ooo oh)
And shakin' (oh oh ooo oh)

Sha sha sha sha sha she was shakin'
Sha sha sha sha sha she was shakin'
Sha sha sha sha sha she was shakin'

It occurs to me that both Glavine's and Ollie Perez's swings are just like their pitching motions - right down to the follow-throughs.
The one is all smooth, efficient and in control, the other all arms and legs, full of fury and signifying (mostly) nothing.

Forgive me
Forgive your wayward son

Everybody needs somebody to love

Everybody needs somebody to hate

And its hard to hold on
When theres no one to lean on

Faith: you know youre gonna live thru the rain
Lord you got to keep the faith
Faith: dont let your love turn to hate
Right now we got to
Keep the faith
Keep the faith
Keep the faith
Lord we got to keep the faith

Tell me baby when I hurt you
Do you keep it all inside
Do you tell me als forgiven
And just hide behind your pride

Everybody needs somebody to love

Everybody needs somebody to hate

Everybodys bleeding
cause the times are tough
Well its hard to be strong
When theres no one to dream on

Faith: you know youre gonna live thru the rain
Lord you got to keep the faith
Now you know is not too late
Oh you got to keep the faith
Faith: dont let your love turn to hate
Right now we got to
Keep the faith
Keep the faith
Keep the faith
Lord we got to keep the faith

Walking in the footsteps
Of societys lies
I dont like what I see no more
Sometimes I wish that I was blind
Sometimes I wait forever

To stand out in the rain
So no one sees me cryin
Trying to wash away the pain
Mother father

Theres things Ive done I cant erase
Every night we fall from grace

Its hard with the world in yours face
Trying to hold on, trying to hold on

Faith: you know youre gonna live thru the rain

Edgy - "He fielded the ball about 30 feet off of first. Rather than throw to the pitcher covering, he ran the ball over there to make Floyd run it out."

I'm not sure his intent was to make Floyd run it out. I think he avoided a possible poor exchange on a toss to the pitcher covering since he could . It was quite unusual to see a first baseman take it himself when so far from the bag. Still, it would have served Pujols right if he had tweaked his sore hamstring while making the play.

The play illustrated that Cliffie is in no way prepared to play a vital role in this series. He can hardly walk, let alone run.

Edgy DC

I agree, I think since the Cards left the NL East there have been varing degrees of hatred onto the Cards from "Met Nation"

Hell I hate the Dodgers, Yankees, Phillies, Marlins, Braves and Nationals, and have a brotherly hatred of the Astros, but other than that I really don't have any qualms about rooting another NL team in the WS (Well Braves are my thrid team behind the Reds but that was when they were in the NL West) and that includes the Cards, Cubs (HA!) and Pirates.

I think that sort of inter-division rivalry kind of dissapates anyway unless its so close and so "intertwined" like Sox-Yanks and Dodgers-Giants that it comes and goes.

I wouldn't be surprised if the two teams continue their course that younger Met fans would be surprised to know that there was a heated Met-Brave rivalry the way people who aren't old enough probably don't know the heat between the Mets and Cards in the 80's

That being said, I'm getting to a point where shouldn't a Met win be happiness enough during the regular year and TH itself should go the way of TC

Valadius
Oct 18 2006 05:57 PM

We had a rivalry with them in the '80s. We faced them in the 2000 NLCS. This NLCS has been filled with emotion. They've disrespected our team. Pujols has turned out to be a schmuck. Spiezio's stupid red tuft of facial hair has inspired a ridiculous practice of Cardinals fans taping small red pieces of paper on their chins. Eckstein has annoyed me. Molina has pissed me off. La Russa thinks he knows everything. In short, the Cardinals have made me very angry. Even though they're not in our division anymore, I think they can assume the spot left open by the Braves as the third component of Triple Happiness.

So did the 1988 Dodgers, and almost 20 years later, Tommy Lasorda is welcome at Shea with nice applause. Orel Hershiser was a Met for crying out loud!

Willets Point
