No Spezio?
|
Gwreck Oct 17 2006 07:31 PM |
|
I guess he wants Wilson and Encarnacion against the lefty. Plus Spiezio is a bit of a defensive liability.
|
metirish Oct 17 2006 07:34 PM |
And Wilson isn't?, Spezio has been one of the best hitters for them....glad he sat him.

Johnny Dickshot Oct 17 2006 07:35 PM |
No Cliff neither.

The blood-red soul patch is their secret weapon, and LaRussa benches it. What a genius!
|
ScarletKnight41 Oct 17 2006 07:43 PM |
Why does the pregame show have Ron and Gary shown with a darkened Busch Stadium in the background? They had to have turned on the lights there ages ago.
|
KC Oct 17 2006 07:45 PM |
Maybe they want the viewers to know what it looks like when The Genius

In either stadium, FOX picks the biggest douche bags in the audience to show as a representation of the whole. Obnoxious hats, painted faces, stupid wigs, etc.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 08:05 PM |
Piniella looked drunk at that press conference.
|
Johnny Dickshot Oct 17 2006 08:07 PM |
Hopefully you haven't seen too many local nooz broadcasts shooting outside the stadium. Joe NY Fan sees a camera and it automatically engages the retard reflex.

Play ball!!!
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 08:21 PM |

Edgy DC Oct 17 2006 08:21 PM |
This is a pretty good lineup for one picked out of a hat.

Valadius Oct 17 2006 08:24 PM |
Eckstein possibly injured his left shoulder.

Rockin' Doc Oct 17 2006 08:51 PM |
At best, Floyd is a possible pinchhitter for a pitcher at some point in the game. I think he would be too big aof a liablility to put in the field.

Ah, the strike-em-out-throw-em-out double play, the pitcher's best friend.

Edgy DC Oct 17 2006 08:57 PM |
Cheeah! Now let's open some floodgates.
|
Johnny Dickshot Oct 17 2006 08:58 PM |

|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 08:58 PM |
And a double play to end the inning!
|
ScarletKnight41 Oct 17 2006 08:58 PM |
Yes! Strike-em-out/throw-em-out!
|
Rockin' Doc Oct 17 2006 08:59 PM |
Blue's calling a pretty tight strike zone tonight. I think it's more likely to rattle Weaver than Galvine.
|
Edgy DC Oct 17 2006 09:06 PM |
That wasn't floodgates.
|
Rotblatt Oct 17 2006 09:06 PM |
Weaver doesn't look rattled. He's only at 39 pitches through 3.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 09:08 PM |
We get the fat-assed catcher out.

Johnny Dickshot Oct 17 2006 09:16 PM |
Base, how low can you go? Death row? What a brother know.
|
metsguyinmichigan Oct 17 2006 09:17 PM |

|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 09:17 PM |
And here's a new first base.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 09:20 PM |

metsguyinmichigan Oct 17 2006 09:20 PM |

It occurs to me that both Glavine's and Ollie Perez's swings are just like their pitching motions - right down to the follow-throughs. The one is all smooth, efficient and in control, the other all arms and legs, full of fury and signifying (mostly) nothing.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 09:32 PM |
Pujols is turning into a nasty person.

Valadius Oct 17 2006 09:46 PM |

|
Johnny Dickshot Oct 17 2006 09:46 PM |
Glavy doubled his pitch count that inning.
|
Rotblatt Oct 17 2006 09:47 PM |
Tommy looked alright that inning, but the 4-pitch walk was inexcusable.
|
seawolf17 Oct 17 2006 09:47 PM |
You know what pisses me off about Pujols? (He's gone from "a hell of a hitter" to "I hate that guy" status this series, by the way.) They made a big fucking deal about his hamstring today... "oh, he's injured, he's injured." Like they were making excuses for why he's sucked to this point. I don't want to hear the crap, Cardinals. If he's hurt, get him out of there. (See "Floyd, Cliff.") If he's in the lineup, I don't want to hear about the fucking hamstring.
|
Rockin' Doc Oct 17 2006 09:48 PM |
Whew, Weaver's grounder looked like a single through the middle when it first left the bat.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 09:49 PM |
Patient attack, Metsies!!!
|
Frayed Knot Oct 17 2006 09:51 PM |
HR (and Pujols can do that to anyone) and BB aside, that inning was nothing more than a pair of seeing-eye singles. No need to put Glavine on double-secret probation yet.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 09:52 PM |
Dookie gets aboard!!!

Edgy DC Oct 17 2006 09:53 PM |

The Cardinals fail to execute the sacrifice, because Encarnacion , like most major league hitters can't bunt. Then he gets a hit with a 0-2 count.
|
Edgy DC Oct 17 2006 10:09 PM |
That single from Encarnacion was on a pitch about nine inches outside.

Mr. Green, I need you.
|
Rockin' Doc Oct 17 2006 11:14 PM |
He didn't miss that pitch though. Wright doubles into the LF corner. Runners on second and third with one out.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 11:15 PM |
Let's go Gumby!!!
|
Edgy DC Oct 17 2006 11:16 PM |

Zvon Oct 17 2006 11:17 PM |
Nice Mr Wright!
|
Johnny Dickshot Oct 17 2006 11:17 PM |
Green's had some good turns at bat this postseason. We definitely need another here. Flores wants a K.
|
Rockin' Doc Oct 17 2006 11:17 PM |
Keep up the origami, Soup.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 11:18 PM |
It's all up to Pistachio.

Pedro Astacio has not been on this team in years.

porn stash must now earn his whiskers.
|
Willets Point Oct 17 2006 11:24 PM |
If the Mets lose tonight, there will be one man to blame: Tommy "Five Inning" Glavine. Of course, the lifelong Brave in a typical mail-it-in performance for the Mets couldn't even reach his 5-inning quota.
|
ScarletKnight41 Oct 17 2006 11:25 PM |
Fuckshit!
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 11:25 PM |
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Rotblatt Oct 17 2006 11:26 PM |
Are you fucking serious? Dude calls a fucking tiny strike zone all game, and that shit is called a strike?
|
Zvon Oct 17 2006 11:26 PM |
nope--not a strike.

Willets Point Oct 17 2006 11:27 PM |

He seemed to hold up pretty well compared to his Mets counterpart who walked of the mound an abject disgrace in the 5th inning.

SteveJRogers Oct 17 2006 11:27 PM |
Mother mother tell your children
|
Johnny Dickshot Oct 17 2006 11:27 PM |

This act isn't funny.
|
Rotblatt Oct 17 2006 11:28 PM |
Terrible baserunning by Delgado, by the way. He should have at least been able to draw a throw.
|
cooby Oct 17 2006 11:29 PM |
Why did he stop at third? I had it muted.

Valadius Oct 17 2006 11:32 PM |

Green plays right as poorly as Cedeno played center.

I think I just hate Mets when their surname starts with "G".

soupcan Oct 17 2006 11:35 PM |

|
Zvon Oct 17 2006 11:37 PM |
Huge out.
|
Edgy DC Oct 17 2006 11:40 PM |
OK, poundage, now.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 11:40 PM |
Cornelius Clifford Floyd should be batting now.
|
Willets Point Oct 17 2006 11:41 PM |
20 years from now I want to be talking about how the Mets came back in the 9th inning of Game 5. We need a patented Mets Miracle right now.
|
Zvon Oct 17 2006 11:41 PM |
|
Im not sure if it would have been better if he had tried. But I do wish when the camera picked him up it showed that he was at least tryin. Or thinkin that way--not jogging. He was waltzin around the bases! Cripes.

Pujols, that was kind of extradicky.
|
Johnny Dickshot Oct 17 2006 11:45 PM |
I was gonna make the same remark about Pujols. What a cock.
|
soupcan Oct 17 2006 11:46 PM |
Mets in 7.

im with ya bro. Mets in 7.
|
Edgy DC Oct 17 2006 11:47 PM |
He fielded the ball about 30 feet off of first. Rather than throw to the pitcher covering, he ran the ball over there to make Floyd run it out.
|
Valadius Oct 17 2006 11:48 PM |
I nominate the Cardinals to be our new component of Triple Happiness computation.
|
Zvon Oct 17 2006 11:49 PM |
|
lmao. works for me.
|
Yancy Street Gang Oct 17 2006 11:50 PM |
I'm cranky now, but Zvon sure laughs his ass off a lot.
|
Willets Point Oct 17 2006 11:51 PM |
It's amazing he has any ass left.

Zvon Oct 17 2006 11:54 PM |

only laughin on the outside Yancy. So we got our backs against the wall. Well---it wont be the 1st time......
|
Rockin' Doc Oct 18 2006 12:01 AM |
Any chance we can get Buckner and Schiraldi added to the Cardinals roster for tomorrow night's game?
|
Valadius Oct 18 2006 12:09 AM |
We should have had Lastings on the roster instead of Andy Hernandy.
|
Gwreck Oct 18 2006 12:11 AM |

Who are our savior pitchers for the next 1 or 2 games?
|
Yancy Street Gang Oct 18 2006 07:44 AM |
For better or worse, John Maine and TBD.
|
cooby Oct 18 2006 08:31 AM |
Judging from this, the game only lasted 15 minutes after I went to bed. That last inning must have been lame.

Edgy DC Oct 18 2006 12:55 PM |
If he can swing, find a place for him to swing. If only to chase a righthanded reliever for a lefty, and then bring in Franco, we've got to use everybody we got.

AMEN! Later

Except that they're not in our division. How much happiness can we get from a Cardinals' regular season loss if it doesn't come from the Mets?
|
cooby Oct 18 2006 01:26 PM |
I have always hated the Cardinals, but especially since 2000. I'd be very happy with a Cardinals loss every day
|
SteveJRogers Oct 18 2006 05:56 PM |

I agree, I think since the Cards left the NL East there have been varing degrees of hatred onto the Cards from "Met Nation" Hell I hate the Dodgers, Yankees, Phillies, Marlins, Braves and Nationals, and have a brotherly hatred of the Astros, but other than that I really don't have any qualms about rooting another NL team in the WS (Well Braves are my thrid team behind the Reds but that was when they were in the NL West) and that includes the Cards, Cubs (HA!) and Pirates. I think that sort of inter-division rivalry kind of dissapates anyway unless its so close and so "intertwined" like Sox-Yanks and Dodgers-Giants that it comes and goes. I wouldn't be surprised if the two teams continue their course that younger Met fans would be surprised to know that there was a heated Met-Brave rivalry the way people who aren't old enough probably don't know the heat between the Mets and Cards in the 80's That being said, I'm getting to a point where shouldn't a Met win be happiness enough during the regular year and TH itself should go the way of TC
|
Valadius Oct 18 2006 05:57 PM |
We had a rivalry with them in the '80s. We faced them in the 2000 NLCS. This NLCS has been filled with emotion. They've disrespected our team. Pujols has turned out to be a schmuck. Spiezio's stupid red tuft of facial hair has inspired a ridiculous practice of Cardinals fans taping small red pieces of paper on their chins. Eckstein has annoyed me. Molina has pissed me off. La Russa thinks he knows everything. In short, the Cardinals have made me very angry. Even though they're not in our division anymore, I think they can assume the spot left open by the Braves as the third component of Triple Happiness.
|
SteveJRogers Oct 18 2006 06:17 PM |
|
So did the 1988 Dodgers, and almost 20 years later, Tommy Lasorda is welcome at Shea with nice applause. Orel Hershiser was a Met for crying out loud! If you feel that they can, then thats your personal thing. To me its the Yankees loss, Phillies loss, Mets win right now
|
Willets Point Oct 18 2006 08:59 PM |
I'm personally feeling TH is unecessary going forward. The Yankees, Braves, Phillies (and hopefully the Cardinals) are all teams the Mets performed better than. I no longer have the sense of looking up and taking joy in our rivals loss now that the Mets are better than them.
|
metsmarathon Oct 18 2006 11:04 PM |
from now on, every day is tripple happiness. (cos it'd be dumb to have an NL team outside our division in there with the yankees)

Great point, metsmarathon.
