I'm going to guess that wasn't the first, or will it be the last, column we'll see with the same theme.

Hmm...think he can play second base?

Think about it, he doesn't need to be captain, or face of the team, or "intangible", he just needs to be a good player in a strong lineup. The pressure is off, plus he'd be fired up to prove himself. I'd do it if the price is right.

Yeah he'd bring more of that "winning attitude" to Queens...and he could spell Reyes at SS for a few games a season.

Maybe we should ask if Wright can play second base....

I spell Reyes R-E-Y-E-S. I don't think they need Jeter to do it. But it would be hilarious to make him switch positions.

I dunno.
Anderson Hernandez and Jose Valentin can switch hit. That's an edge they have over Jeter.

Why would we want the third best SS in New York playing second base for the Mets?

Wassamatta' you?
Don't you remember Hernandez' highlight reel catch?
Jeter might be the fourth best shortstop in New York.

Jeter's still has $85 mil and 4 years left on his contract (22/22/20/21)...that is quite a bit for a guy with a career .463 slugging percentage...

Wouldn't it be a super bold move for the Royals to make a move for A-Rod,he could put up super regular season numbers and never have to worry about postseason play.

Caple (or at least somebody at ESPN.com) suggested that when the Yankees got A-Rod. I think he was the one who also said that after everybody got to see the two of them play side-by-side, there would be no argument about A-Rod being the better player. Funny how things work sometimes.
