HELP!! I HATE RAIN!!!

Elster88
Oct 12 2006 10:59 AM

Ok, so as a result of the rainout, I may not be able to use my Game 1 (now being played on Friday) tickets.

Two tickets in the Mezzanine Boxes behind home plate. I'm just hoping to get my money back ($110 each....face value).

Does anyone know anyone who may want to buy them? If you do, please PM me.

Though I have no idea how to deliver them...I could overnight I guess. But would it be easier for me to call Will Call and have them print them out at the window?....not sure if that's allowed. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions on that front, please post here even if you're not interested in the tix.

NOTE: I'm hoping to still go to the game. I won't know for sure if I have to get rid of these tickets until this afternoon, when I get things squared away at work.

Wow, nice tickets!

I hope you're able to use them. If I thought I would be able to go to the game, I'd be following you around for the next 24 hours to get those tickets.

Bump. Looks like I won't be going. Anyone?

God love ya, I hope you don't have to eat $220

Seriously, how much would that fucking suck. Not only do I NOT get to use beautiful playoff tickets, but now I'm paying $220 for this tease.

Elster, if you don't find anyone, I will take them.

I should qualify this, I can take them if it is a night game.

Have you tried StubHub? I've never used them, but isn't that what they're in business for?

Looks like CF will take them, if not I would go to http://newyork.craigslist.org/.
you'll have them sold in minutes.

I tried to send you a PM, Elster, but I'm not sure it went through. I'd take them if they're available. Thanks to Gwreck's reporting that it'll be at 4:00 or 8:00, my dad & I can definitely go, and I just talked to my mom & girlfriend, who can also go.

If CF's got dibbs on 'em, though, that's cool too!

Elster, if you want to go with craigslist, go ahead. You can probably make a profit.

Never thought of using craigslist or stubhub for some reason. T'was a mental block. Don't know if I trust those either...was worried I wouldn't find a taker.

Never got your PM Rotblatt...I was trying to do this on a first come, first serve basis. I don't want to have to decide between forumites.

No worries, Elster. I think CF probably posted first here anyway, as when I got back from PM'ing, his message was already here.

And if you'd prefer to make a profit on them, I certainly won't blame you!

I've bought and sold stuff on craigslist...never had a problem.

Poor Elster's just as confused as ever.

So, can you go (Elster) if it's at 8 pm?

I'd be so leery of buying tickets like that. Tickets are so easy to counterfeit, and if the bar code doesn't scan when you're at the ballpark gate, you're out of luck. There's no way to "test" the ticket before you complete the purchase.

I had a co-worker who got burned for ten thousand dollars on Super Bowl tickets a couple of years ago.

Jesus. That's awful.

I bought tickets to a Mets-Yankee game on Craig's List about two years ago and had no problem, and used Stub Hub tickets for a Cub game.

Again, no problem for me.

Of course, all of this is moot for Elster, since he'd be the one selling them!

There's a chance that I could get a co-worker to cover for me tomorrow, but he's on vacation until tomorrow and I can't get a hold of him. And if I wait until tomorrow and he says no then I'm screwed.

I WANT TO USE THESE GODDAMN TICKETS. I'VE NEVER BEEN TO A PLAYOFF GAME.

Please excuse that. I'm frustrated.

Rotblatt, take them. It is kind of a pain for me to be able to go, but I didn't want Elster to be stuck with them, so I intended to be a last resort.

I'm not saying this just to be nice. For real, take them.

Thanks, CF! I especially appreciate the disclaimer at the end--otherwise, I'd feel totally guilty!

Speaking of guilty, Elster, I feel like if I buy the tickets, I'd be stealing your joy.

When's the last possible minute you could decide and I'd still be able to get the tickets? Does the will-call thing you mentioned in your first post work? I have a feeling there would be issues there.

My mom & dad would be coming down from Albany tomorrow, so I suppose theoretically, they could stop by to pick them up if you're in between Albany & Queens . . .

They'd want to know before, say, they showed up at your door, but I'd guess they'd be okay with some ambiguity between now & they left (figure around 2:00 p.m. tomorrow).

I feel dirty--like I'm depriving a Mets fan of his birthright.

Gosh, came late to this. For the record: Lenny Harris and I (two CPFers) are available for any game, any time.

It's kinda hard to really feel sorry for someone with ten thousand dollars to blow...

It wasn't so much that he had an extra $10,000 lying around. It was more that he was driven into Eagles frenzy and stretched himself in order to achieve his dream of seeing them live in the Super Bowl.

Well, last minute for me would be tomorrow morning.....the problem of course is getting the tickets to you. I think will call only works if I physically drop off the tickets, which I can't do. In fact, I don't even know how to get them to you if we were making the exchange now.

Unless you feel like stopping by my office during mid-day (40 minutes from Shea, Whitestone to Cross County to Hutch/Merritt), I don't see a solution.
