We probably should have started this at the beginning of the NLDS, but we're a little out of practice at this whole postseason thing.

I read major, major thunderstorms in St. Looie all day and all night today.
MFS62 Oct 16 2006 10:55 AM |
Possible rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches in St. Looie tonight.
Yancy Street Gang Oct 16 2006 10:56 AM |
I could use an early bedtime tonight.
metirish Oct 16 2006 11:04 AM |
A rainout and a possible rainout in one postseason series...when was the last time that happened?
Centerfield Oct 16 2006 11:05 AM |
We should ask the Yankees if there will be a game tonight since they are always the first to know.
Yancy Street Gang Oct 16 2006 11:09 AM |
I'm pretty sure the Yankees won't be playing tonight.

Golf, maybe. Or perhaps bowling?

I see that under in the This Afternoon section, the words "possibly a thunderstorm" were removed. Does that mean the forecast is slightly more promising?

YOU COULD USE AN EARLY NIGHT???? Ok, so I haven't seen one to conclusion yet, but last night I got till the 6th inning and they start at 1.15 AM for me. Seriously, give me a gay dame sometime.
Yancy Street Gang Oct 16 2006 02:01 PM |
I tip my blue cap to you!
duan Oct 16 2006 02:04 PM |
i'm feeling it today. Thankfully i didn't stay up for any of Saturday's fiasco.
Yancy Street Gang Oct 16 2006 02:10 PM |
If the game starts at 1:15 a.m. for you, why don't you take a nap beforehand? I'd probably go to be at 9:30 and set the alarm for 1. That extra 3½ hours of sleep would help a lot, I'd think.
MFS62 Oct 16 2006 02:14 PM |
Sounds like Army guard duty. 3 1/2 hours of sleep between shifts. Later

Accuweather gives hour-by-hour forecasts, and they have the rain stopping for good at around 6 p.m. (Which would be about an hour before the game, which is scheduled to start a little after 7 p.m. Central time.)
Centerfield Oct 16 2006 02:37 PM |
Meanwhile weather.com's hour-by-hour has the rain continuing to midnight and then turning into showers.
soupcan Oct 16 2006 02:42 PM |
I don't know which is preferable.

Open Memo to Met Fans:
Centerfield Oct 16 2006 02:47 PM |
We got Chris Carpenter? Awesome. Omar rocks.
Yancy Street Gang Oct 16 2006 02:48 PM |
I think it's clear that him pitching (and winning) is tonight is preferable, because if he pitches (and wins) then the Mets will have won their third game, and that's what this is all about.
soupcan Oct 16 2006 02:51 PM |
If he wins then of course that's the scenario we want.

Tonight: Windy with a steady rain this evening. Showers continuing overnight. Low 49F. SE winds at 25 to 35 mph, diminishing to 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall possibly over one inch. Locally heavier rainfall possible.
Yancy Street Gang Oct 16 2006 04:25 PM |
Sounds like we get a night off tonight.
TransMonk Oct 16 2006 04:30 PM |
Accuweather.com shows a window of cloudy yet rainless skies between 7-11pm local time.

Crap. I picked up a night shift tomorrow night knowing it was an off day. I may only be working during commercial breaks, but the quality of work will be quite good.
ScarletKnight41 Oct 16 2006 05:43 PM |
It's official - it's a rainout tonight.
Hillbilly Oct 16 2006 05:44 PM |
Game postponed.
apmorris Oct 16 2006 05:49 PM |
trying not to (over) think that this is a benefit for the Cards pitching.
ScarletKnight41 Oct 16 2006 05:51 PM |
It's at least as much of a benefit for Glavine, if not more.
Zvon Oct 16 2006 05:51 PM |
awww-this sucks.
Valadius Oct 16 2006 05:51 PM |
Oh well. At least Glavine gets more rest.
ScarletKnight41 Oct 16 2006 05:52 PM |
No - it really doesn't. I was very concerned about Glavine pitching on short rest. I was having flashbacks to Seaver pitching on short rest in the 1973 World Series. Damn Yogi....
Hillbilly Oct 16 2006 05:53 PM |
Well one idea out there is that Tony would go with Carpenter on 3 days rest on Tuesday. I think it would benifit the Mets, if he burns his ace before the series returns to Shea.
Zvon Oct 16 2006 05:54 PM |
I know it doesnt..... I just hate being all geared up and no game.
Willets Point Oct 16 2006 05:56 PM |
Oh well, night off. Rest up for tomorrow.
SteveJRogers Oct 16 2006 06:06 PM |

Damn Tom, he's the one who pushed for the "clincher" start
RealityChuck Oct 16 2006 06:35 PM |
That wouldn't make much sense. If the Card win, he has his ace ready to clinch; if they lose, he has their ace ready to pitch to stave off elimination.

Do they have one of those stadium cam thingies at Shea?
metirish Oct 17 2006 02:22 PM |

Yes Cooby but it's not to watch the weather,it's for the hoodlums that go to the games.
