Gotta say, no matter how much the poor offense and shitty play turns me off, Pedro makes it interesting again.

He just completely buttreamed the first 2 hitters and has a 10-pitch, 2-K 1st inning.

Reyes leads off with a single. He runs on 3-1 and Cameron drives a single to right. Hit it so hard Langerhans still had a small chance to get Reyes at third. But no. First and third with Beltran looking to do a Pedro-Day Special.

OK, I'll say it.

Good guys winning, 1-0.

Single by Wright and a double by Woodwawrd and it's second and thiwrd with no out.

Showrt day coming for Hampton, perhaps.

Jul 17 2005 01:51 PM

RBI double by Reyes makes it 3-0.

Langerhans cuts it off before the track and deprives Reyes of the triple that is his DESTINY.

Get with the program. Two-run KaBLAMmeron and it's 5-0 and Hampton looks cooked.

Dolphinface being pinch hit for in the third with no men on. That's too funny.
It's always nice to see fecal matter flushed out early. Nice job Mets.

I'd like to officiall rename that gap in the seats in left field "Floyd's Well."

Base on balls for Reyes.

I wonder what the Mets' record is in games in which he's walked.

OE: The .500ly Mets are 6-5 in games in which Reyes has walked.

Total manufactured run. Reyes steals second and is batted over to third by Cammy and scores on a sacrifice fly by Beltran.

Who is this guy?

First he claims Shea opened in 1962. Then, clearly when corrected by a producer, he clarifies that the Mets started play in 1962 but opened Shea in 1964, but they played at Yankee Stadium the first two years.

Martinez has 47 pitches through five, but it's steamy and cream out there. How long will he go?

Unbelievable. Only Thursday's opener for this series was televised here.

If the Braves were playing the Fish I would likely get the entire series. Or at least that's how it seems.

LGM! Keep kicking ass boys.

What happened to Pedro?!?

61 pitches in 6 innings and they take him out?

It better be to keep him fresh for the second half.

Out of town scoreboard is good, with Washington down 4-0 to Milwaukee.

Somebody will also lose the Philadelphia-Florida game.

Big brawl at Comerica with 11 guys ejected. Good rule in brawls: Don't mess with Farnsworth

Any official word on Pedro's early departure?

Bell - one of the many 'would make a better closer than what we
got'
pitchers (according to some) - is making a mess of the 8th
inning (along w/some help from Woodward's bad toss).

Both Woodward & Cairo having good days otherwise; although I'm partial to seeing Woodward get more time now that M'wcz is back.

]Royals pitcher Runelvys Hernandez ejected by HP umpire Marty Foster.

So I guess Runelvys has now left the building.

I've got the Braves feed. They haven't even speculated that there's anything out of the ordinary about Martinez's departure.

Johnny Dickshot
Jul 17 2005 04:01 PM

Cameron said "I think he had something going on with his toe."

Personally, I favor Gary Cohen's explanation: A lighter load assures he can be available for Friday's Merengue Night start.

KC

Pedro on a Friday Merengue night? I may just get a single ticket to do
some crowd watching. I haven't been thrown up on in years.

Here's what mets.com says about Pedro's departure -

]With the humidity giving 110 percent, the Mets limited the workday of Pedro Martinez rather than allow him to sap his strength.

Save your money KC, Ed Coleman says the rotation now sets up as follows.

Benson
Glavine

Let us take a relaxed attitude toward work and watch the baseball match. The Nie Mets are my favorite squadron.

Gary said in the post game that Pedro is not hurt.
