Well, numbers two and thee should each have 28.5.

That's 22.5 for Harrelson and Ryan.

Shamsky and Garrett sould be 17.5. There's a coupla ties there.

Is that how you actually had it, or is that a result of some sort of ex post facto tidying effort on your part, a la your belated attempt to steal a point for Kranepool?

Problems are;
a) the changes you mention leaves us a point short unless there's some other adjustment somewhere
b) they don't seem to be correct. The wrap-up of the thread is as straight forward as it can be and, seeing as how it was my thread, I'm reasonably sure I didn't change it anywhere along the line.

And not that a couple of half-point adjustments would change a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, but I am a bit concerned with these are coming from.

I'm telling you what the list says.

When did I attempt to steal a point for Kranepool?

I thought it was simply logical that two guys tied for second would get 28.5 points each, rather than 29, and two guys tied for 20th (Dave Marshall and Ken Singleton) would get 10.5 points rather than 10.

Well it's not logical if that wasn't the original intent.
Remember that some of that point-shifting stuff was done where it was thought sizable gaps existed.

I'm not seeing how two guys can have 29 under any circumstances. If two guys are tied for second, we would tend to give them the average of 28 and 29, 28.5.

When did I attempt to steal a point for Kranepool?

Well it's not like this was the only year in which this was done.
Again, the idea was not just that the two players were tied but that there was a larger than normal gap between them and the player directly above or below them and so the points were adjusted (slightly) the reflect it; ie. Koosman & Agee were closer to Seaver than to Clendenon.

I'll change them to the half-points in this case since it's not like it's making a huge difference. I'm just trying to make sure that we've got some kind of reliable (and findable) record of this stuff and that the data hasn't become screwed up over time for various reasons.
