Funky but chic. If you're really in denial, Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan will be there.

Well, Wright he was slump-mired

Carlos Beltran, whose dramatic 2-strike triple won Game 7 of the NLCS against the Cardinals, said the Mets will have confidence playing in front of their home fans.

I'm suspecting a dramatic surprise start at second by Julio Franco, his first appearance at the keystone since 1997 with Cleveland.

Or Agee at least

If we're fantasizing, it's a day game, work is canceled and through the miracle of quantum physics all 300 million Americans will be able to fit in the front row at Shea.

AND the food is free

What the hell. While we're fantasizing, Tommie Agee is throwing out the first pitch...

To Jesse Gonder, who drops it. Later

Joan Whitney Payson and Casey Stengel will be there to take a bow...

Who's going? Once they decided that all registered members of the CPF get press passes, I assumed that we would all be there.

Jon Stewart gave me his extra ticket; I'll be down on the field level.

Cool. I'll be there with Kate Winslett and Scarlet Johansen.

The Mets will bat around twice in the first inning

This is starting to read like a Mike Lupica column.

LOL - I was thinking the same thing. I was waiting for someone to pull out, "And once more, on a glorious baseball afternoon, Willie Mays' glove will be where triples go to die"

I don't even have a ticket, but I'm sure I'll get in, no problem.

Wow, and it looks like Willie's move to place Petey on the WS roster has paid off! WFAN now reporting that Pedro's bullpen session yesterday went so well that the trainers have cleared him to start tomorrow night.

This thread makes me sad.
|
SI Metman Oct 24 2006 04:05 PM |
the sad thing is I actually had a ticket for Game 3 tonight. Looking at it makes me depressed, because I could be on my way to Shea right now. I guess it's a collector's item, just like the '85 playoff tickets that were printed.

Actually you need to mail that in to get your money back.

Id keep it. Stick it away. Might be a pricey momento of a non event,....but still.

Well, no one ever said you made a ton of sense. You might be taking this thread a little too seriously.

I'll always remember seeing a fully uniformed Carlos Delgado receving the Roberto Clemente award during Game 3 of the World Series at Shea.

Nope, I'm a plan holder, I automatically get the money credited when I renew my plan for '07.

How kool is that?
|
soupcan Oct 25 2006 09:36 AM |
Not as 'kool' as you think. Who do you think gets the interest on that money from now until they credit it back?
|
Edgy DC Oct 25 2006 09:39 AM |
Yeah, well, the ticket's memoribilia value --- either to the holder or the e-bay shopper has to cancel out some of the value of five months' interest on $150, no?
|
Yancy Street Gang Oct 25 2006 09:42 AM |
I remember I had to turn in my 1988 World Series tickets in order to get the refund, and I was a season ticket holder for 1989.
|
soupcan Oct 25 2006 10:04 AM |
|
Granted, the interest isn't much but its the principal of the thing really. If you are a season ticket holder and want to keep your seats and keep your account current I don't believe you have a choice in terms of getting a refund or applying the monies to next season's tix. I think you have to apply it.
|
MFS62 Oct 25 2006 11:02 AM |
|
Soupy, did you mean the principal or the principle? Both might apply in this circumstance. Later
|
HahnSolo Oct 25 2006 11:06 AM |
Well, who went?
|
soupcan Oct 25 2006 11:08 AM |
I speak and write the word 'principal' about a million times a day during the work week so I'm just conditioned to that spelling.
|
Gwreck Oct 25 2006 12:28 PM |
|
True, although that number's a bit low. Closer to the $1500 - $2000 range (2 seats, 3 games, plus the DS Game 5 refund...)
