Manny Acta Trivia Question: Manny Acta, Mets third base coach, recently interviewed for the job managing the Giants. Without freaking checking, how many of the 2006 Giants is he actually younger than?
|
HahnSolo Oct 24 2006 03:25 PM |
Without freakin checking, I guess four on the first question
|
Edgy DC Oct 24 2006 03:28 PM |
Four is... incorrect.

Wow, I missed that this generated any interest. All apologies.

Edgy, after incorrectly guessing the first time, I looked up the Giants roster. I believe you're missing a certain relief pitcher who has a brief Metly past.
|
Edgy DC Oct 25 2006 11:04 AM |
Yup. I knew I had eight yesterday. Mike Stanton is the cat Solo refers to.
|
Edgy DC Oct 25 2006 11:07 AM |
Chambliss is correct. We're looking for one before him and one after him.

Getting them in precise alpha order is a little outrageous for a closed-book quiz.

Confirming Phil Cavaretta's coachness has been on my to-do list for a while.
|
cooby Oct 25 2006 12:42 PM |
Burgess would be embarrassed to know my memory of him

I seem to remember sending in Caravetta evidence to UMDB once before. I don't know if it was positive evidence that he was a coach or negative evidence, perhaps that he was merely a minor league coach/manager and spring training instructor.

Yancy I just got of the phone with a guy over at Mets media relations...he confirmed that Caravetta was the Mets hitting coach from 75 to 78.

Edgy DC Oct 25 2006 01:42 PM |
metirish goes the extra mile and also takes an important first step in getting the forum some future media credentials.
|
metirish Oct 25 2006 01:45 PM |
It took only two phone transfers to get to this fella...nice people ,he spent a few minutes going through records looking for the info.

Hmmm, I've seen him listed in those press guides in the Minor League staff though as the roving hitting guy. BTW, MTBN does have him in the All-Time Coaches & Managers wearing #50 from 75-77, as well as #44 in 1975 (must have been his uni as a Cub?) One of these days I'm going to post my year-by-year listing of all Met ML staffers, coaches, scouts, ect... Also I believe he did rate photographs in the Yearbook with the rest of the staff
