Remember to Fall Back

This is the weekend that Daylight Savings ends. Turn back your clocks before you go to bed on Saturday.

And remember, next year daylight savings time starts earlier and ends later.

Great. So Junior now wakes up at 3:30!

I HAT it when its dark at 5pm when I check out of work.

Course that could just be because I'm not a fan of driving at night!

Look on the bright side, at least you'll have some more material for your road rage rants in the Things I Didn't Say Today thread.

I remember when Dick Barnett played for the Knicks.
When he released his jump shot, he was so sure it was going to be a basket, he'd yell "Fall back, baby".

Later

I generally shy away from Betty Boop fans, but I'd trust Mrs. Fields to catch
me ... or least soften my landing.

The pizzaman in Cooperstown wore a t-shirt that said "Red Sox Time: Spring Forward, Fall Back." I hate Yankees fans, especially when they're serving me pizza.

Congress passed a law last year that extends daylight savings time by a month. This is the last year that it began the first Sunday in April and ended the last Sunday in October. Starting next year, it begins the second Sunday in March (March 11, 2007) and ends the first Sunday in November (November 4, 2007). This was done for a couple of reasons: to save on energy costs, and to add an hour of daylight on Halloween for trick-or-treating.

Thanks for the info, Valadius. I didn't know about the new law, but I must say that i approve. I hate it when it gets dark before I even get off work.

I'll buy that.

Thanks, Val.

Don't forget to change your time zone in your forum user profile.

Those of us on the East Coast should be in GMT -5 hours.

Seems to me that when the new Daylight Savings parameters go into effect, all these fancy new machines (computers, VCRs etc.) that "know" to change the time themselves going to be screwed up!

Except for the handful of clocks which actually are tuned to a constantly-correcting time signal from atomic clocks and whatnot, this stuff must be programmed into these critters based on the soon-to-be-old time frames.
So not only will you have to change the time on them manually next Spring when the 'early' time change goes into effect, but then you'll also have to "un-change" them a few weeks later when the stupid beast thinks DST is supposed to start.

Ahh yes, progress.

btw, anyone notice that Red [u:45b893ca1f]Auerbach[/u:45b893ca1f] died a few hours before we were schelduled to set our clocks ... an [u:45b893ca1f]hour back[/u:45b893ca1f]?!?!

I wish we would just be on DST all year round.

Instead of messing with time we should just have work hours change from 9-5 to 7-3 and all other hours adjust likewise (ex. baseball games start at 5 pm instead of 7 pm, prime time television starts at 6 pm, et al).
