Are those Tylenol pills killing people again?

Those crazy kids.

I like how they won't tell us what all brands are involved. I guess we should just all throw ours out and go buy real Tylenol.

I could really use a Tylenol right now, I have a splitting headache.

What do you suppose the ratio is of O-t-C pain medication that is taken for actual need as opposed to want, or habit, or "addiction", or just for thehelluvait?

I'm guessing less than 50/50

I've stopped taking any of that stuff. I had a liver function red flag some time
back and stopped taking acetomenephin and ibuprophen and that new crap
that I can't think of and now my liver tests come back fine.

Quit beer, BAH

I guess. Generic Alleve? Bad news for livers and kidneys.

I was addicted to Advil for a long time. The first time I ever suffered a real sports injury (badly rolled ankle -- it made noise and everything) I was very nervous about getting back to competing when my PT suggested it was okay to take 3 or 4 Advil if you need to and it gave me CAHNfidence.

I know she didn't intend for it, but 2 or 3 Advil and play for me became just a regular thing (this was until injuries that couldn't be solved with Advil ended my jockly career). Now I rarely take Advil.

My father-in-law's a retired G.P. and he tells me there's nothing wrong with popping 3 Advil at a time on a semi-regular basis.

Before and after I bike I do it, before and after I ski I do it.

If I'm out and have a few too many (this doesn't happen nearly as often as it once did - I'm not 27 anymore...) I'll pop a few before bed to ward off the hangover.

I have great results with each of these proceedures and so far no ill effects at all.

I think the problems have to do with excessive regular alcohol intake mixed with acetomenephine (Advil). That's when the liver starts squawking.

I'm surprised to hear that people find these pills addicting, that's news to me.

Now Viagra - that's an addiction...

I take Advil when I have a headache. There are some weeks when I have to take a few pills every day, and sometimes I go weeks or months without taking them at all. I think it's largely influenced by how well I'm sleeping.

I was briefly alarmed to learn that they could affect the liver, but if that only happens with alcohol consumption I should be okay. When I try some sake in Japan later this month it'll be my first drink in over four years.

I don't know that they're physically addicting so much as psychological. Peeps take them because ... well because they took them last time they did whatever, which leads you to take them the next time and then the next because either you feel bad or just anticipate that you might; yyybbb.

I guess just never got in the habit.
If I take a dozen aspirin a year it's probably a lot.

I'll take them for headaches, especially sinus headaches. I was taking a lot in September, but I haven't had much of a need over the past month and a half.

Acetomenephin is Tylenol, Ibuprofen is Advil. And yes, alcohol is a major
factor. I guess I'm getting old, but if not taking the stuff keeps my doctor
off my back about beer drinking I'd rather give up the pain relief (especially
when it's not always really really needed).

I thought beer itself was a pain reliever?
Best when taken internally
