Why, was it garbage day?

I can if you want me to...what's up?

Hmmm. When I saw the thread title, my guess was that it was about the O.J. Simpson book and TV interview.

I'm guessing one of the new game systems came out today and Edgy in his curmudgeonly, elitist manner is referring to video games as trash.

Edgy DC

No, the video games come out on Friday and folks have been building tent cities for days.

Any particular game, or is it a rush of Chrismas releases?

Edgy DC

PlayStation3, I'm told.

Uh oh, Yancy's nervous that someone will get the one he wants.

Hey, I'm going to be in Japan next week. They're probably up to Playstation 5 by now.

Nope,it just came out last week in Japan, I've been reading that people are complaining because PS3 doesn't play a lot of games PS2 played...not that I care...game costs over $600....crazy

Yancy Street Gang

I don't care either. My son has a GameCube, and that's more than enough for my household.

My son is getting flashlights and cardboard boxes and as many baseball cards as he wants.

And he'll like it. Or else.

I have a variation of the FAO Schwartz song in my head: "Welcome to our world, welcome to our world, welcome to our world of trash!"

Damn you Edgy!

It's the PS3. And at least half of these people are buying it for $600 and then selling it on eBay for $3,000, so if I had a tent, I'd be out there too.

Yep,only 400,000 are going on sale in the US,not on sale in Europe till next year.

Tents in front of BestBuy, tents in front of Target, it's mayhem.

Although I sort of admire the people who are camping out for 2 days to buy a $600 game, and then spin it off for about twice the value. The length's they'll go to is awe inspiring.

Just saw some story on the news about EBay restricting sales of this new game gizmo. Didn't hear all of the details (cuz, like, I don't really care) but I wonder how many of those insta-entrepeneur wannabes are going to get burned despite their brilliant plan?

People on craigslist were selling their place in line for $1300....I used to love video games..of course that was Atari..last xmas while in Ireland I played with my brothers kid on his PS2 and I had no clue...it was so bad he remarked to his Mom that even she would beat me....

Word.

Same in my house.

My 9-year old plays MLB2K6 and Madden2K6.

The other two each have their favorite game and they seem (at this point anyway) to want for nothing else.

However, last night they saw a commercial for a Nintendo Wii(?) and that seemed to catch their attention a bit.

My kids are intrigued by the Wii also. But they ain't getting one. Enough is enough!

Soup, that commercial for the Wii caught my attention a little bit. It looks neat. (A little gimmicky, perhaps... but neat.)

I still have my Nintendo 64 in a box downstairs... I brought it up last time my ten-year-old nephew came to visit, and promptly swept him in a six-game series of Madden 99. He loved every minute of it, even when by Game Six, I was actually calling my play (yes, singular, as I kept running the same one, a run right up the middle) every single time out loud and he still lost... and loved every minute of it. Kids can be funny that way sometimes when they're normal and well-adjusted.

PS3 is getting some nasty reviews, the Wii is kless than half the price and getting good reviews..

Well you wait on line for a week, or pay half the value of a KIA to a profiteer, in order to be the first to own something that'll be falling out of the sky in a year and jamming landfils in three, the buyer's remorse is going to be killer.

My son has a Xbox 360, which he bought at the crack of midnight on whichever New Years Eve they went on sale (was it this past year or last?) and also subscribes to Xbox live, both of which are money well spent.

I will note though, that he has had to send it away twice for repairs, but has had no problems with any of that, he calls them up, they send a box, he ships it free, they send it back in a matter of days from Texas. (all still under warranty)

My son has an XBox (pre-360) in his room. He subscribes to XBox live. Sometimes it seems that he only leaves his room for school and meals. Everytime I bust on him about spending too much time on the XBox, he quickly brings up my participation on the CPF. Little smartass.

Gilbert Arenas is a rare bird, a star basketball player with a sense of humor about himself. At least, that's what I glean from his blog:

PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii
Man, I couldn’t get it. I stood outside no hours and got nothing. That’s when you sit in your room and try to use your celebrityism. I didn’t get nothing. I knew I should have called and said I was D-Wade. “Um, hello, this is D-Wade … This is LeBron … Can I come over there and get one of them?” Then I would have had one.
