So what do you do when you are out and about and need to know what time it is?
|
ScarletKnight41 Nov 17 2006 05:01 PM |
I carry my cell phone in lieu of wearing a watch these days.

You learn where the clocks are. You can peek at your cell phone. And you find that it often doesn't really matter what time it is. Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care?

But then you have do dig it out or unclip it, etc. With a watch you just look at wrist.

Peter Cetera might not but I do. What are you gonna do in Japan? Not only will you not know where the clocks are but they'll all be in Japanese!

It won't really matter to me what time it is in Japan. I won't have any appointments to keep.

I don't wear any jewelry at all, not even a wedding ring. Don't like the feel of it.

My watch is a gold bracelet with links too, and it's pretty loose on my arm. I've always worn my watch on my right arm, so it kinda does get in the way when I'm writing, etc. If I get really disgruntled I'll just wedge it up there so it'll stay, but that looks kinda dumb. I only wear a watch at work. The worst part is, the girl who gave it to me is really hot looking.

I like watches and feel naked and worthless without one.

I had that clear Swatch, and I bet I still have it somewhere. After a while the clear wristband turns yellow.

Actually...yeah I did. It's a beautiful piece and while I've always considered myself a 'watch guy' I never thought of myself as a 'Rolex guy', I'm getting attached to it rather quickly though. The Rolex though is just heaven for a watch guy. I can't find a picture of the exact model I have. With Rolexes you can mix and match bracelets, bezels, faces, and have a variety of different things to choose from for the numbers. You can have Roman numerals, Arabic, simple lines or diamonds. I got an Oyster Perpetual Datejust which looks almost exactly like this one except for the face. The dial on mine is the same color except mine has got this funky concentric circle design and I got the Arabic numbers rather than the Roman numerals. It was quite a bit of money but as the missus said when she gave it to me "Honey you are so worth it, I don't know what I'd do without you. As expensive as this pathetic little gift might be, it's nothing, nothing compared to what you give me and the kids every day just by being who you are..." Well...maybe I paraphrased a bit there. I've always been into watches but never a collector or anything. Always liked wearing them and always tried to have something nice but a bit different. The first watch I ever really liked that I wore a lot was this... It's a Hamilton Piping Rock that was originally produced in the '20s. The 1928 World Champion Yankees were each given a silver one with a engraving on the back commemorating their World series victory. The one I had was produced in the late 1980's early '90s and retailed for about $250.00 or so. Still have it. The next watch I got attached to was this... A Baume & Mercier Hampton. This was a gift from my wife on the occasion of our marriage. Mine is a bit different in that has a rose (bronze)-colored dial. This one retailed for a little over $900.00 when she bought it in 1995. This was the watch that I've been wearing for the past 11 years and the one I grew very attached to. I also have various other digital and sports watches for the sole reason that I never wanted to wear a watch with a leather strap while working out, swimming, etc. A Timex here, A Nike there.
