this one is for cooby:

The date was November 1991, it was late November. PIAA Western Semi final football game Strong Vincent vs. Lock Haven at Veteran's Stadium. Much like typical Erie weather it was about 70 degrees for the 1 p.m. kick off. Vincent came in with the three horsemen, Tim Romanski, Tony Robie and Quentin Orlando in the backfield. All three rushed for 1,000 or more yards that year. That feat by those three has to be an Erie first and quite possibly Pennsylvania state history, three backs running for 1,000 or more in the same backfield. They were a treat to watch under Joe Bufalino and his Delaware Wing-T offense. However, the Lock Haven Bobcats came to play and brought the entire town with them. Still to this day my friends and I say it was the best football game we have ever watched in person. That's saying a lot for the Vet which has played host to some of the most memorable high school football games in Erie history. It was a classic battle back and forth the entire game with the laed changing several times. Vincent had been a machine all season, their only loss a 7-0 defeat to Prep who also happened to be playing in the western semi's that day. I The game was either tied or Vincent was down 6 late in the fourth quarter with about 5 minutes to play and pinned in their own territory. They moved the ball to the Lock Haven 45 with about 2:30 left to go. The Colonels moved it to about the 30 with 1:20 something remaining. On fourth and 8, Dan Olsen hit Greg Baney with a pass that moved them inside the 10. Romanski then punched it in and Jamie Potosnak's extra point sealed the win for Vincent. The Colonels went on to win the PIAA AAA title and become Erie's first ever state football champions by beating Conestoga Valley in the final after beating Blackhawk in the Western final. Mind you, I was a county football player at the time, North East, but every football season my friends and I can't help but talk about great high school football teams and games we watched over the years and this game and that Vincent team are always the number one topic. Like I said there have been so many great games I have watched at the Vet over the years but this one has to be the game of the 90's.

And that is NOT an easy trip.

Erie Prep, my word. A few years ago when our two high schools combined, it formed a school big enough to go Quad A, and they were valiently playing schools from Erie and Harrisburg without much luck.
Erie Prep rings a bell.

Harris Lipez would have done the local color; Farmer T will remember him

Do you recall any of the Bobcat players' names?

And why would somebody from Newark be attending a PIAA football game in Erie, PA?

(although 70 degrees in November in Erie might be a good enough excuse)
