David Wright dons the suit.

Check out the unamused Gretchen Randolph in the background keeping the watch out for unwelcome sexy Santa helpers.

Here's what confuses me about all this.

Don't some of the kids visiting still believe in Santa? Do they know that this Santa is David Wright? Would they rather see David Wright or the real Santa Claus? I'd think they'd want to see both!

I'd think they'd be better off with somebody over 60 playing Santa, and David Wright alongside him, greeting the kids.

Anyway, I know John Franco was Santa for many years, but who have the post-Franco Santas been? Who filled the role between Franco and Benson? Did Mike Cameron ever do it?

Yes, Mike Cameron did it between Franco and Benson. Franco was at the party yesterday. He should still be Santa. He's not doing anything else and that way the kids could meet David Wright and Santa.

Great gallery of Klassik Met Santa shots at Rubin's blog (plus juicy Anna Benson news -- Mets Lose World Series Cuz of Me).

Color photographs appear to have been invented sometime between 1988 and 1997.

If the pictures were being taken for newspapers they would have taken them in black and white because the papers weren't printing color photos back then, except maybe on the front or back cover.

I remember when Newsday first switched to color film they had a problem printing those color photos in black and white. (I don't remember or understand the reason for the problem. I just remember Mets caps looking "reversed." The orange NY insignia looked darker than the blue of the cap.)

I remember that. Thought it was pretty cool looking.

Torreclause scares me. Right out of a horror movie, I tell ya.

The "Mets" script on the jerseys looked reversed too. It looked like the lettering was orange on a blue background.

Rusty Claus would fit the suit well.

Actually, that baby was screaming because Darryl took her cocaine away.

At least he thought it was cocaine. I think he snorted her powdered formula.

That baby reminds me of the first couple years' worth of my daughter's Santa pictures.

(that's Willie's wife?)

I'm surprised we've gotten this far into this thread without seeing Anna Benson's décolletage.

We're a tasteful bunch.

Met Santas and children are always a better picture than she is

Remember those Lady Mets Clubs pictures that were in the Mets Yearbooks many years ago? They would do the Christmas parties. I wonder if they are still the ones who do them
I always wanted to be in the Lady Mets Club when I was a kid
