Speaking of hoots, anyone down for a holiday get together? I propose a
one o'clock meeting at the unofficial restaurant of the CPF on Sat 12/23.

I'm taking my daughter to the matinee of WEDDING SINGER that day. Order a "pig out" in my memory.

I'll be in NC getting some REAL BBQ. Well, the in-laws call it REAL anyway. I may have a pork sandwich and some ribs with Rockin' Doc.

KC
Dec 11 2006 01:24 PM

My money is on the NC in-laws over Times Square bbq.

If 1/6 or 1/13 is better, we could also do that if 12/23 is too close to xmas.
Discuss amongst yourselves.

Dec 11 2006 02:22 PM

i think either of those alternate dates would work for me.

Yeah, the January dates look more workable.

ScarletKnight41
Dec 11 2006 03:52 PM

Getting into the City right before Christmas could be dicey. I think that January would be a better choice.

FWIW, I can't make 1/6, but I can make practically any other day that month.

KC
Dec 11 2006 04:37 PM

1/13 makes better sense. With xmas falling on a Monday, the 23rd is part
of xmas weekend so to speak. Let's shoot for that.

1/13, 1:00, Virgil's on 44th

ScarletKnight41
Dec 11 2006 04:53 PM

It works for me. I'll see if D-Dad can join me.

seawolf17
Dec 11 2006 06:45 PM

I'll be in as a tentative yes. Need a reason to head into the city, and this is as good as any. Figure us for two and a half.

ScarletKnight41
Dec 11 2006 06:48 PM

Ooh - I can't wait to see that adorable baby!

SteveJRogers
Dec 11 2006 06:49 PM

I can get down there any Saturday. Have a yearly tradition of mine to go through 5th Ave and get a look at the Rockerfeller Center tree.

Ahhh, Silver bells, sliver bells, it's Christmas Time in the City.
Ring aling, hear them ring. Soon it will be Christmas Day..."

Okay, I promise I won't sing! =;)

KC
Dec 11 2006 07:00 PM

Don't wait until 1/13 to see the tree, they pull the plug a couple of days after
New Years I think.

SteveJRogers
Dec 11 2006 08:26 PM

Of course I forget on the 13th I'll be drinking, having fun, and watching football on my company's dime in St. Marteens.

But I'm pretty much free every Saturday straight through till April.

If it is on the 13th and if I have internet access maybe I'll send some cyber regards, and some cyber sun shine =;)

sharpie
Dec 13 2006 05:31 PM

I can probably make it. Maybe Lenny.

KC
Jan 04 2007 07:15 PM

I guess it's time to bump this. Anyone who plans on going please chime in, (or
PM/email) me so that we can get an estimate of how many we're looking at.

Virgil's upgraded web-site.

SteveJRogers
Jan 04 2007 07:20 PM

Have fun, not sure if I'm bringing my laptop to post from St Marteens, but I shall be photobucking some pics the week I get back and throwing them up here

Though I'm sure I'll be pounding brewskies just the same!

Johnny Dickshot

I will try to be there, along with Wifey and Junior 'Shot

sharpie
Jan 05 2007 04:27 PM

I can still probably make it. mrs. sharpie is outta town that day so that might make it easier.

KC
Jan 05 2007 04:56 PM

Cool, so we're on ...

Edgy DC
Jan 05 2007 07:53 PM

Yeah, write me in. Solo.

Unless I can score a date on the Delta Shuttle.

Hopefully Omar will have this Oswalt deal sewn up by then so we have something to talk about.

KC
Jan 05 2007 07:56 PM

Score twins ... KB will be in The 'cuse.

Edgy DC
Jan 05 2007 08:19 PM

Maybe Cecily and Gwendolyn will be working that flight.

Remind me to tell a tale of why I hate Delta...

Is there an airplane/airport bitch thread lying around here?

Edgy DC
Jan 05 2007 09:36 PM

Which one are you calling a bitch? Cecily or Gwendolyn?

I meant bitch as in the verb, not the noun

In other words, do we have a place for airplane and airport stories around here?

Virgils has become the traditional meeting place (other than Shea of course) for CPF members. There has been a meet and greet gathering of members at Virgils virtually every year. It's worth going if you have the chance. It's nice to put a face (and real name) with the onscreen personas. I have enjoyed meeting several of the members here and I have found them to be fine people. So if you're able to make it to the upcoming gathering, I recommend you go, eat, drink and enjoy some good fellowship.

Seeing as I live in NC, I'm not the best qualified to give directions. Virgil's is located just off Broadway near Times Square at 152 W. 44th St. If you click on the "contact" header of the site, it has a map that shows their location pretty well. I made it to Virgils without getting lost a few years ago , so it can't be too hard to find. The food is wonderful and the beer is cold.

patona314
Jan 06 2007 08:37 AM

mmmmmm..cold beer

seawolf17
Jan 06 2007 05:52 PM

If you can find Times Square, then you can find Virgil's. Nice and easy.

Count us tentatively in for two and a high chair, pending anything crazy happening with MiniWolf between now and then. It'll be a good excuse to bring him into the big T-backwards-R-U.

sharpie

That Toys-R-Us is one of my least favorite places on this planet.

KC
Jan 11 2007 09:59 AM

Just a last reminder ... 12:30 Saturday.

So I guess we'll be at least 14-15 or so counting kids, sounds like a nice
group. My train lines up so that I should be able to be the first one there to
greet people in the bar area. If anyone who hasn't met up with us wants to
join us please don't be hesitant. Feel free to PM me and I'll give you an idea
of who to look for.

Vic Sage

Heads up for anyone taking the subway to/from Virgil's tomorrow from the Gothamist:

Shouldn't "No Pants Day" be held during a warmer month?

ScarletKnight41
Jan 13 2007 07:39 PM

It was a small but enjoyable gathering at Virgil's today - Kase, me, Sharpie, Edgy, Johnny Dickshot with the lovely Mrs. Dickshot and the adorable Dickshot Jr. enjoyed barbecue and good company (well, the little guy stuck to Cheerios, but not by choice....). Willets Point and Ms. Tiger came by later and joined us for a couple of beers.

To all who made it - it was great seeing everyone and hanging out together :)

For all who missed it - hope that you can make it in future years. There's nothing like baseball and Mets fans to help tide you over until spring training!

Sounds like it was fun, hopefully I can make it in the future, did the weather cooperate?

ScarletKnight41
Jan 15 2007 09:25 PM

The weather was a non-factor. Light drizzle with mild temperatures. Nothing that a substantial sweatshirt couldn't handle.

That's true, Baby D grabbed at everything he could reach. For the things he couldn't reach, he used the power of the Force. He's one cute baby.

="cooby"]Ms Tiger? Va va voom!

She's all that and more cooby.

I feel kind of sneaky coming late but still winning door prizes. Thanks KC and Johnny!
