Looking at that list, I've only seen 15 '06 releases. Thought I'd seen more. Now that my kids are of an age that they don't need (or want) my accompaniment I didn't end up seeing any kid movies. Therefore, here are my top 10 movies: Little Miss Sunshine Little Children Children of Men The Departed Half-Nelson Inside Man Borat Babel The Queen The Science of Sleep Bottom 5: An Inconvenient Truth For Your Consideration Keeping Up With the Steins A Prairie Home Companion Who Killed the Electric Car? Between the two of us, Vic and I have seen 41 '06 movies with only two overlaps, Little Miss Sunshine and Inside Man.

Stranger Than Fiction Little Miss Sunshine Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby Superman Returns Click Nacho Libre I imagine Nacho LIbre would have been better than Click if I got through it, but I turned her off. With Click I was at the theatre with kids and escape was not so easy.

um, i only saw three of 2006's theatrical releases the best of them was cars the worst of them was happy feet and the movie i saw in an airplane was mission impossible iii i need to get out more.

For me: 1. Volver (great story, amazing performances.) 2. Little Miss Sunshine (loved it.) 3. Half Nelson (every moment felt earned--great acting) 4. L'Enfant (gritty, rather shocking story about a young man growing up) 5. Casino Royale (fun.) 6. Borat (liked it, didn't love it, but it was pretty innovative) 7. The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (kind of long, but still gripping) 8. Superman Returns (loved it.) 9. The Devil Wears Prada (I hated the whiny heroine and was meh on the story, but damn was Streep good.) 10. The Descent (really good thriller. Could've done without the crazy bat dudes, but still a good movie).

Little Miss Sunshine I can't in good conscience include any of the below to the above list to create a 'top ten' because although while I did see them I was not even remotely impressed. Happy Feet Over the Hedge Pink Panther, The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest RV Click How to Eat Fried Worms Keeping Up with the Steins Shaggy Dog, The Ice Age 2: The Meltdown Open Season Geez Louise I see lots of 'G' movies.

It turns out I've seen exactly ten 2006 movies to date. Eight of them I saw in theaters, one on DVD (Cars) and one on an airplane (My Super Ex-Girlfriend, on the return flight from Tokyo). Here they are in order from my favorite to least favorite: Borat X-Men: The Last Stand Superman Returns Monster House Cars Happy Feet Departed, The Eight Below Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest My Super Ex-Girlfriend I would say that I enjoyed the first four. The next four were "okay" and the last two were pretty bad.

Upon further consideration, I'd probably put STRANGER THAN FICTION at the top of the list, but not by much. i also appreciated SUNSHINE'S creepy, Solondz-style undertones, making it one of the bleakest, most emotionally disturbed comedies of the year.
