The Golden Globe Awards

The Golden Globes are coming up - they will be awarded on Monday, January 15th. In the movie category, they are often a precursor to Academy Award nominations and awards.

This strikes me as a particularly weak year in movies, with nothing that clearly blows away the rest of the field. So far, Little Miss Sunshine is my favorite movie of the year (although I'll be able to judge it against Dreamgirls tomorrow).

Here are the nominees, for those who are interested -

And gave perhaps the most bizarre acceptance speech ever.

Even though she didn't win, I wonder where Beyonce got those two "golden globes".
I don't remember her being that, uh, zaftig.
