Saw this yesterday and thought it was fantastic. It's part fairy tale, part war drama, part horror film, and all of it's dark and scary as childhood wonderment and fantasy collides with the harsh world-is-a-rotting-shitbox reality of adulthood.

Maybe you'll understand yesterday's Dugout, "Laberinto del Jeff Suppan", then. I didn't get it (but I didn't see the movie).

I loved this movie. It's really dark, and disturbing on a visceral level, but at its heart, it's just a well-told, well-crafted, beautifully shot story.

Great movie. Both the fascist and the fairy tale parts of it work very well.

finally saw it. I was a little disappointed. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I wanted less of WWII fascist Italy and more of pan's labrynth. But it was definitely worth seeing. The ending is quite moving.

Just watched this tonight, not what I expected at all but quite good and moving at the end.
