Aaron Sele?

I suppose he is this year's version of Jose Lima, waiting in Triple-A in case out starters all fall apart...again.

NEW YORK -- Right-hander Aaron Sele agreed Thursday to a minor-league contract with the Mets, giving New York another starting pitching option heading to spring training.

Sele would get a $1 million, one-year contract if added to the 40-man roster and would have the chance to earn another $1 million in performance bonuses.

The 36-year-old Sele was 8-6 with a 4.53 ERA for the Los Angeles Dodgers last year.

8-6? Only 4.53? Only 36 y.o.?

Number three starter on this team. Pencil him in for the next half-decade.

He wasn't half bad last season.

Definitely better than Lima Time.

I have no problem with the Mets signing Sele to a minor league deal. He gives them insurance in the event of other starting going down to injury or ineffectiveness.

OO - "Definitely better than Lima Time."

Damning praise. Hell, this guy was tougher to hit than Lima last year.

A much better bet than Lima. Sele could contribute.

You give up your Lima position so easily.

The last time I was able to get into a Lima position I was about 19.
