Mercy, but we had decade-long jones for Endy Chavez before he actually played a game for us:

April 29, 1996: Signed by the New York Mets as an amateur free agent.

Yay!

December 11, 2000: Drafted by the Kansas City Royals from the New York Mets in the 2000 rule V draft.

Boo!

March 30, 2001: Returned (earlier draft pick) by the Kansas City Royals to the New York Mets.

Yay!

March 30, 2001: Traded by the New York Mets to the Kansas City Royals for Michael Curry (minors).

Boo!

December 20, 2001: Selected off waivers by the Detroit Tigers from the Kansas City Royals.

Whatever.

February 1, 2002: Selected off waivers by the New York Mets from the Detroit Tigers.

Yay!

February 22, 2002: Selected off waivers by the Montreal Expos from the New York Mets.

Boo!

May 14, 2005: Traded by the Washington Nationals to the Philadelphia Phillies for Marlon Byrd.

The journeyman moves on.

December 21, 2005: Granted Free Agency.

Noted in passing.

December 22, 2005: Signed as a Free Agent with the New York Mets.

Yay!

That revelatory performance by the guy is the payback for acquiriting him four times.

Wow!
Didn't remember all of that.
Endy's made almost as many comebacks as Cher.

It must be underlined that one of the re-acquisitions was merely a paper transaction, him having been returned by Kansas City when he failed to make their squad after being plucked in the Rule V Draft, only for the purpose of trading him back to Kansas City for Michael Curry that same day.
