I hope you're ready Sharpie. We had said Tuesday, but I'm out the door early and won't be home until way late...so I'm posting mine now.

Good luck!

Song: “Oddball Pitcher”
Subject: Turk Wendell
A Parody Of: “Pinball Wizard” by The Who
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He comes running from the bullpen, the man who's off the wall
From April to October he's eager for the call
After each and every batter the rosin bag will fall
That righty mid-reliever sure is a keen oddball

Hopping over baselines, wishing he were Charlie Sheen
All he drinks is OJ, and he keeps his molars clean
He's waving to Jay Payton, the ump rolls him the ball
That kid from Quinnipiac sure is a keen oddball

He's an oddball pitcher, there always is a twist
That oddball pitcher's got such a nutty wit

Why do you think he does it?
I don't know!
What makes him so weird?

On the mound he's an attraction, crouches down when Mike is up
Draws crosses in the dirt, mouth's full of black licorice
Always wears a necklace made up of teeth and claws
That righty with the slider sure is a keen oddball

I thought Wade Boggs was the superstition king
But I just handed the oddball crown to him

Even with his quirky nature, he will give his best
Bobby V will bring him in and he just does the rest
And Shea's fans all go crazy when that rosin bag does fall
That righty mid-reliever sure is a keen oddball

Song: GENIUS OF LOVE by Tom Tom Club

THE SAVIOR OF OUR CLUB

What he gonna do when he gets out of jail?
He’s gonna have some fun
What does he consider fun?
Snort some coke and run.

Doc’s on the mound
Pitching to those hitters, those frightened hitters
In at the beginning and in at the end
‘Pen isn’t needed for his appearance
He’d throw heaters
Then they’re swingin’, swingin’ and missing
It is one time I’m glad I am a fan
Feels like I’m dreaming, but I’m not sleeping

It’s Eighty-Six
We’re the focus of the baseball nation
Davey’s infielders such as Keith Hernandez
Raise expectations to a new dimension
No one can swing
Quite like Darryl, Darryl Strawberry
Winnin’ and stompin’ with Bob Ojeda
Strike zone’s expanding with Sid and Darling

(Oops he might be using Oops he might be using Oops he might be using
Oops he might be…)

Then the parade
Doc, he was missing
It was the beginning
Of all the troubles that would come later
He went insane when he took cocaine.

(german stuff)
Bohanen Bohanen
Bohanen Bohanen
Bohanen Bohanen
Bohanen Bohanen

After Doc had left us, well the boredom grows
Who wants to watch while a no-name throws?
As a Yankity-ho he throws a no-no
Who wants to watch when they pitch this schmoe:
Bohanen
Bohanen
Bohanen
Bohanen
Who wants to watch when they pitch these schmoes:
Bohanen
Bohanen
Bohanen
Bohanen
Mark Clark, Mark Clark
Mark Clark, Mark Clark

If you see him
Please remind him, he was the greatest
He was the savior of our club
He gave us a greater depth of feeling
He was the savior of our club
Not some perp.

Good luck to you, too, Monk. I'm a Who man from way back.

I just watched Stop Making Sense a few nights ago, with a hippity-hop and a hippity-ho.

Monk - awesome job. I'm a big Who guy as well as you did both the Mets and The 'Ew justice.

sharpie - you hit me with that on so many different levels that I had no choice but to vote for you. Just a great, great job.

I had to go with TM. Not only because of my fondness of the subject matter, but because it was a much better sing-a-long fit.

Gettin' killed here.

TM's reminded me of Doc's (as Hot Corner) effort from a few years back:

Pinball Wizard lends itself well to flakey relief pitchers.

It reminded me of Doc's too. It was like having to re-live a bad loss on ESPN Classic.

Still I went with TM. Nice entry by both though.

I still like Centerfields line of: "Where's my hitting coach...I need to fire someone...."

It cracked me up then and it still does now.

I voted for "Scott Holman Again" because it had to be a true story.

Congrats 'Monk. Good luck in the finals.

I've now lost in every round of this tournament.

Wow, Monk is a rookie phenom. Meanwhile Dickshot is the Peyton Manning type, the superstar looking to finally win a championship. Should be a good final.

Thanks, sharpie...I thought your song was one of the more original ones of this tournament.
