Zito's new wind-up

I read about Zito coming into the Giants' camp and changing his wind-up and couldn't help but think we dodged a bullet in not getting this guy!

If I'm paying that much money over seven years, the last thing I want is an experimental surprise.

Doesn't seem that big of a deal
From the SF Gate:
]In his first workout with the Giants, Barry Zito (left) came out with a new pitching motion. In an attempt to get better movement on his pitches and take stress off his arm, he is less upright than he was with the A's (above). Zito said he felt 'constricted' recently in Oakland, not using his body to generate power. Pitching coach Dave Righetti, watching Zito left, had been warned that a change was coming, but was surprised the difference was so pronounced.

But would have made some nice material for the sports writer and broadcaster threads with Chicken Littles and Met-bashers ripping everyone for it.

Zito claims that it's actually a new, 'old' windup. IOW, he's gone back to one he was using back in CY days but had drifted away from since.

Probably not a big deal, but it does seem odd to just spring it un-announced on your new team and pitching coach like that.
Wonder what Rick would have said/thought had he done that here?

He woulda spent fifteen minutes with him and fixed it.

(sorry, can't resist a hanging curve sometimes)

reading the article, it sounds like a big enough deal that if i were a giants fan, i'd be worried.
