Static Electricity

I haven't done a bit of exploring on this subject (so excuse my laziness), but
are some people more vulnerable or particularly prone to static electricity?

I'm like a freakin' lightening bolt. Car doors, the venetian blinds in my office,
light switches, people ... ZAP!

When you get out of the car to pump your gas, turn around and touch the car to discharge before reaching for the pump.

Just remember to use your powers for good, not evil.

Sounds like a good question to ask the "hive mind" at Ask MetaFilter.

You know what's freaky? Maybe it's something with the weather, because my wife has been zapping everything the last few days, and so has the woman whose office is next to mine. This is a bigger issue than you think.

It increases in cold weather, no doubt, not least because of all the layers we wear rubbin' and rubbin'.

Great subject KC,this is the truth,I have terrible static, last week when I got home from work I sat down at my computer and reached for the mouse, huge zap...and the mouse was killed...it's shot...I zapped it,so I bought a wireless one at Radio Shack,I still get zapped when I tough that at times,I have carpet down so that doesn't help.

I do what Edgy says, before touching things I try to ground it before...I hate touching the elevater buttons at work....

Added two humidifiers to the Ted house and put a pot of water on the woodstove whenever I fire it up. Helps on the homefront. No answer for the workplace unless they let you plug a humidifier in your office.

I always do what Edgy says. Who wouldn't? The man's a veritable repository of arcane wisdom, and I dont say that about everyone (mainly because I'd catch some smacks to the puss if I did.)

My former gf's house was a House of Static Shock horror. I'd walk from room to room saying "Fuck!" "Oh, Jesus" "Agghh!!" all day long. Not saying that was why we broke up, but it didn't help.

Maybe we can call you "Sparky" from now on.
