Edit: I'm an idiot and forgot to put something in about Pedro. How could I forget Pedro?

No one has posted this yet, and with only 30 days to go before opening day, time's running out. Post your predictions before the first pitch on opening day. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the earliest predictions (determined by the date/time the post was last edited).

Team Leaders

Name the Met who will lead the team in each category. Only stats earned while a member of the Mets count. Minimum: 150 PA, 50 IP as a Met needed for rate categories (BA, ERA, etc.). One point for each correct prediction. Must be a specific player, not "someone who will be acquired during the season.

Am I the only one to think the Mets will not win 90 games this year??

I see closer to .500 and a second (or third) place finish. This rotation does not impress me, I think Wright's second half slump may be more than that, and a team with Franco, Easley and Alou looks like a geriatric unit to me. And I second JD's worry about our catching situation.

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

I do see that I predicted a sub-90 win campaign.

Okay, I'm breaking this down by sections. The following are the correct answers for the team leader questions(#1-#27) followed by the names of correct respondents in brackets.

1) Games - 160 Wright and Reyes (Everybody got this one correct except for JD) He went wirth Beltran.
2) Hits - 197 Wright (Nobody picked Wright) - Most common answer was Reyes.
3) Doubles - 42 Wright (sharpie, Gwreck, Vic, RD, JD, Doctee, Ira, Marathon, GYC) - Beltran was a popular answer.
4) Triples - 12 Reyes (Everybody got this one correct)
5) HR's - 33 Beltran (sharpie, Transmonk, OO, marathon) - Most incorrectly favored Delgado.
6) RBI's - 112 Beltran (Ben Grimm, Gwreck, RD, OO, GYC) - Again, many favored Delgado.
7) Stolen Bases - 78 Reyes (Everybody got this one)
8) Caught Stealing - 21 Reyes (Everyone got this one except KC)
9) Runs Scored - 119 Reyes (Everybody got this one with the exception of Vic and Transmonk) They both went with Beltran.
10) Batting Avg. - .341 Alou (Vic was the only one that forsaw Alou's solid bat) Most others went with Wright (.325), but Alou easily met the min. 150 AB's specified for this poll.
11) OBP - .416 Wright (RD, Nymr, KC) - Beltran was the popular incorrect answer.
12) SLG - .546 Wright - (KC was the only one to get this one correct) Most missed with Beltran or Delgado.
13) OPS - .962 Wright - (RD and JD) Most voters incorrectly went with Beltran.
14) K's by hitter - 18 Delgado (Everybody got this with the exception of JD and GYC)
15) Walks by hitter - 94 Wright (sharpie, Nymr, Ira, marathon, GYC, KC) -Beltran and Delgado drew a lot of support.
16) Wins - 15 Maine and Perez (Attgig, RD, JD, OO, Ira, GYC) - Glavine garnered several incorrect votes.
17) Loses - 10 Maine and Perez (Ben Grimm, Vic, Attgig, JD, Transmonk)
18) K's - 180 Maine (sharpie and KC)
19) Walks allowed - 79 Perez (Gwreck, Vic, Attgig, RD, JD, Knot, Transmonk, OO, DocTee, Ira, Marathon)
20) Low ERA - 2.63 Wagner (Vic, Attgig, Nymr, OO, GYC) - Most went with one of the starters.
21) High ERA - 5.76 Mota (No one got this one) Most went with Chan Ho Park who was so bad that he mercifully didn't get near the 50 IP required to qualify.
22) Saves - 34 Wagner (Everybody got this one correct)
23) Low Batting Avg. Against - .200 Feliciano (OO and GYC) - Wagner (.216) was the popular choice.
24) High Batting Avg. Against - .358 Sele (No one got this one) - Most expected Park to get lit up by opposing batters. He did, but Park sucked to bad to ever pitch enough innings.
25) Starts - 34 Glavine (Ben Grimm, sharpie, RD, Nymr, Knot, Transmonk, OO, DocTee, KC) - Maine was popular among most other voters.
26) Pitching Appearances - 81 Heilman (Everyone got this one except for RD, Knot, and marathon)
27 Innings Pitched - 200.1 Glavine (Nymr, Transmonk, OO) - Maine was the popular choice.

That completes the team leaders section of the poll. Though it's early, the scores at this point stand as follows:
16 - Olerud Owned
14 - Rockin' Doc
13 - sharpie, Iramets, GYC
12 - Gwreck, Vic Sage, Attgig, Nymr83, Transmonk, Kid Carsey
11 - Ben Grimm, Johnny Dickshot, DocTee
9 - Frayed Knot, marathon

There's still a lot more for me to tally, but I will have the results up either later tonight or tomorrow.

Wright RBI 107 - 106 Ben Grimm (130 Attgig to 90 DocTee)
Wright OPS .962 - .960 marathon (.965 Gwreck to .680 RD) I'm assuming that was typo on my part. Otherwise I was done in by poor math skills.

Alou Avg. .341 - .325 Attgig (.325 Attgig to .219 Ira)

Glavine wins 13 - 13 Attgig, OO, JD, marathon (18 Gwreck to 11 Ira)

Humber IP 7 - 12 RD (130 DocTee to 12 RD)
Martinez starts 5 - 5 marathon (17 Transmonk to 0 Gwreck)

No one predicted the 5 pitchers that would make the most starts for the Mets since no one named Sosa, who made 14 starts.
Named 4 starters - KC, GYC, marathon, DocTee, Ben Grimm, sharpie, Gwreck, Vic, Attgig, RD, Knot, OO, Transmonk.
Named 3 starters - Ira, JD, Nymr

Now for the final section of this lengthy predictions questionaire. The results for the team statistics and season ending standings show the final total with the closest prediction noted. The range of high and low predictions are again included in brackets just for fun

Total Runs Scored by Mets 804 - 820 JD (911 sharpie to 757 Ira)
Total Runs Allowed by Mets 750 - 750 RD, Vic (876 sharpie to 671 Ira)
Mets Team ERA 4.26 - 4.23 OO (4.80 DocTee to 3.93 Ira)
Mets Team Avg. .275 - .274 Ira (.278 sharpie to .261 RD)
Mets record (wins) 88 - 90 RD (99 Attgig to 81 DocTee)
NL East finish 2nd - 2nd Vic, Ira (1st virtually everyone to 3rd DocTee)
Games ahead/back - 1 game behind the Phillies - 2 games back Ira (Most predicted a NL East crown for the Mets, some by as many as 8 games over the second place team)
Playoffs - None - None DocTee (World Series Winners by most here to no playoffs by DocTee) Unfortunately, DocTee was correct in predicting that the 2007 Mets were not a playoff team. I'm sure that even he wishes he had been wrong.

The final point totals earned for the this section are as follows:
3 - Iramets
2 - Vic Sage, Rockin' Doc, DocTee
1 - Johnny Dickshot, Olerud Owned

The final point standings for the 2007 Preseason Predictions poll are as follows:

20 - GYC, Vic Sage
19 - Ben Grimm, Nymr83, sharpie, Transmonk
18 - DocTee
17 - Gwreck, Johnny Dickshot, marathon
15 - Frayed Knot

Thanks to all who participated in this thread and congratulations to Iramets (wherever he may be) for winning the 2007 Preseason Predictions Poll.

I will post a new and much shorter questionaire before the start of the 2008 season.
