Memories of Kelly Stinnett

Was his second tenure notable for anything? I imagine if there was a race, they would have acted earlier and more aggressively in finding an alternate backup catcher besides DiFelice when Castro went down. But they almost got burned. Castro came back late and if he came back too late they would have been looking at an ugly choice. DiFelice didn't hit a bit, but all Stinnett added to that was an inability to throw and a recent Yankee pedigree. Anyway, good luck to him, now the beneficiary of a minor league deal with Los Angeles. (On edit: I know only reps apparently, because in reality, Stinnett caught three of six basestealers for the Mets.)

As I recall it, he had one good game. It was a weekday day game. That might also have been DiFelice. I'd like a better starting catcher too.

I was going to ask if he was with the MFY last season,but that might have been DiFelice.

I prefer to remember the time he and Todd Hundley were splitting the catching chores. Speaking of which, for the life of me I don't even know why this was the case? Okay in 1995 Hundley did miss a month and change, but Stinnett still seemed to play in more than his share as a backup backstop in 1994 Or maybe it's my fuzzy math and 82 to 44 would have translated to a usual starter to backup ratio if the year was finished

So Todd Pratt and Robin Ventura are now dead to you as well? Despite their contributions to the 99-00 Mets? I say this because like I said, Yankee fans would rather not remember Stinnett as a Yankee, so you are holding a horrid 37 games against a former Met? The guy put in more service with the Diamondbacks than anyother team so I'm going to counter that and say I remember him as a being a Diamondback, hell he's even an original Diamondack! Thats 'nuff said
