A few sample dishes from a Met cookbook:

* Eggs Reyes -- Made with runny eggs and a sprinkling of shredded ham

* Pork a la Beltran -- Pork chops served with mole on the side

* Chicken LoDuca -- Made from very young chicks

* David's Brownies -- Lots and lots of sugary sweetness

* Julio's Steak Tartare -- When both the dish and the chef pre-date the invention of fire

* Chicken Zambrano -- Only takes 10 minutes to prepare but comes with a broken wing

And don't forget the Lastings Milledge hot dog - still raw.

Is the book edited by Dennis Cook?

Too bad Steve Traschell is gone. I'd bet he could have suggested the right wines to go with all those dishes.

I have a Gour-Mets cookbook from 1982, along with the 1983 insert.

I'll have to dig it out one of these days. Maybe I can post Lorn Brown's favorite recipe.

I remember my sister cooking some of those dishes. Ron Hodges' "Chicken Easy" was tasty. Darryl Strawberry's "7-Up Cake" was a disaster.

I'm surprised that Darryl's cake didn't call for powdered sugar.

I'm having trouble making out that Ron Hodges recipe, or the choices they seemed to have made in design. Interesting use of "brown space."
