Johnny, Yancy and I all need to go to North Dakota and Mississippi.

I think of the ones I haven't been to, North Dakota and Kansas are the least likely. I've been very close to Kansas a few times, crossing the Texas/Arkansas border on I-30 and the Oklahoma/Missouri border on I-44.

It is hard to find a good excuse to go to North Dakota.

Never been west of the Mississippi, so cross off that whole section of country, except Louisiana.

Eastern states I've missed: Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, Oregon, Washington.

Though I've set foot in Illinois and Nevada, they were just short airport stopovers with total time less than two hours.

I've been nowhere. 30 states yet to visit.

If you count just driving through, and airports, it knocks a few off that list.

Flight stopovers don't count, but driving through does, I think.

I'd agree with that.

Including "flight stopovers" wouldn't add to the 42 states I've visited, but my kids would have a few of those. For both of my children, they've changed planes in Nevada and Arizona without ever leaving the airport. My son, who did some traveling before his sister was born, has also changed planes in Georgia and Kentucky.

My ten-year-old son has been in 28 states, and my five-year-old daughter has been in 24.

My 18-year-old (today!) daughter has been to 21 states; my 14-year-old son has been to 19.

Still no one has copped to setting foot in North Dakota.

Yancy Street Gang

Well, I confessed to setting foot in New Jersey, and that's far worse.

Washington, Oregon, Nevada (I think I'm the only 44 year old alive to never
have gone to Vegas), Arizona, Wyoming, No and So Dakota, Michigan, Wis-
consin, Arkansas, Kentucky, Alaska, and Hawaii. Did this without a list, so
it's subject to change.

OE: wanted to see how I'd do without looking ...

Add Idaho, Mississippi, Utah, Nebraska, Minnesota, Alabama, Oklahoma, and
Montana.

I need to get out more.

I've been to North Dakota...a few times.

I've spent time in all of the lower 48 states, only Alaska and Hawaii to go.

Nymr83

the shorter list would be states i HAVE been to: the original 13 colonies except for Georgia, as well as Vermont, Texas, Colorado (as a stopover to Texas only), Kentucky

KC, you're taggin' along on my next Vegas trip. Prolly early Dec. if not sooner.

Driving through doesn't count. You have to get out of the car, turn it off, sit down at a restaurant and spend money in the state for it to count. Anything else is not enough. Flight stopovers, of course, are also not fair.

Maine
West Virginia
South Carolina
Georgia
Mississippi
South Dakota
Nebraska
Kansas
Oklahoma
New Mexico
Colorado
Nevada
Hawaii
Alaska

Yo G, the whole room needs to know what North Dakota's like.

Start a thread!

I'm hardly the expert (now, Iowa, or Wisconsin -- those states I could tell you about).

North Dakota? It's a lot like Minnesota, except with fewer lakes.

My only time there was part of a Seattle - New York road trip a few years back. I wound up driving the entirety of North Dakota. We spent some time in Bismarck, which is pretty much exactly what you'd think it would be - barely distinguishable from a half-dozen other places.

It's not as pretty as Eastern Montana, and it doesn't have the Badlands like its southern neighbor.

It's not like I actively dislike the place (like, say Indiana), but I'm not exactly planning a return visit.

39 states (and DC) down and 11 more states to go.

I have yet to visit:
Maine
Vermont
New Hampshire
South Dakota
North Dakota
Montana
Wyoming
Idaho
Utah
Alaska
Hawaii

Alaska and Hawaii are the most likely to fall in the reasonably near future.

Anyone been to the 51st state...Puerto Rico?

Yancy Street Gang

Yep. I was there twice, in 2002 and 2003.

Nymr83 - "maine and vermont are really nice doc."

So I've been told, 83. I eventually intend to get to all of the 50 states. It's just hard to find time to visit all of them right now. Since all of our families (parents, inlaws, and siblings) live in other states, we spend a great deal of our travel time trying to see family, which doesn't leave a great deal of time to travel to other areas just for fun.

Yes to Puerto Rico --- plus I've been to what was then the American Panama Canal Zone.
