A Meaningful Date in October

Willets Point
Feb 19 2007 11:08 AM

Ms. Tiger and I are adding to the roster of CPF babies. Due date is around the same time the World Series begins.

Equal shares of joy and fear in anticipation.

Big congrats to you both....

Congratulations!

My son was born at World Series time. It was as Yankees-Braves was about to open in 1996.

I had no plans to watch anyway, so there was no conflict.

Congratulations. Come October, we will hopefully be celebrating a Mets World Series Championship and, more importantly, a healthy new addition to your family.

Overheard in October...

"Now? Right now? But it's the 8th inning...do you think you can hang on just a little longer?"

Congratulations Willets. You have no idea how much joy being a parent will bring to your life.

I think you need to make a committment to name the kid after whoever is that night's post-season hero.

I can see it now ... I christen thee Duaner Sanchez Point

As long as the child doesn't end up being named Derek Jeter Point, I'll be happy.

There's a chance I might end up with Justin Verlander Point though.

Hey, congrats! Very exciting. Have him learn to catch, because I don't think we have a catcher yet on the CPF MiniMets.

Funny looking back at the old posts in this thread... I guess it's not going be Duaner Sanchez Point, eh?

Yeah, but Clambake is better.

Congratulations. A pregnancy is a long process, and my experience was that learning the sex roughly halfway through gives you a nice little surge of excitement that's helpful in getting through that second half.

Did something about "sex" and "roughly" being so close together in the sentence bring a different image to mind, because that was my first impression.

I don't know when Willets is going to surface long enough to make a statement, but his household now has a third member. Last I checked, mother and baby Pedro were doing fine.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Nov 07 2007 09:14 AM

Is Pedro just a code name? Cuz if it's not, that would be awesome. But congrats. Lots of sleep deprivation and terror (not to mention love & laffs) coming your way!

Edgy DC
Nov 07 2007 09:30 AM

Pedro was their in utero code name, but I just went and checked the roster and he is listed as Peter, so it works under any circumstances.

Benjamin Grimm
Nov 07 2007 09:32 AM

Each of my two kids had "fetal names" too. We used them consistently until the ultrasound. Once we knew the gender, we started calling them by their eventual birth names.

(My daughter's fetal name was Benny Agbayani.)

Hello everyone. Thanks for all your good wishes. Mother and baby are doing great.

Despite the title of this thread, the little guy decided to hold out until Nov. 1st (and was 2 hours shy of Nov. 2nd).

Name: Peter Andrew
Weight: 9 lbs
Length: 21.5 "

He's a great little guy and life seems happier with him.

Thanks again for the good wishes.
