Problem Thread

The "Going Back to School" thread is having a problem. It doesn't open and hangs up the two PCs I've tried it on. Results in an error message and shuts down IE.

Advice: don't open it.

I think we need to retire the bugger.

Very logical, Mr. Spock.
LOL!

It works fine for me.

Let's don't retire a good thread over one user's IE problem.

That really doesn't seem quite fair to 62 does it? Are his problems less important than "one good thread"? Every other overweight thread around here gets its due.

Why all this drama? The thread should be archived and a new one started if
desired. Willet's last clean-up reduced the backup size by about 17%, that's
what really matters.

I'd like to keep this one thread going through December. Then I'll be done with school and I'll have everything in one place.

I honestly think that's not too much to ask.

Since 62 posted in the thread today, it doesn't seem like he's been having too much of a problem with the thread.

Why do you need a thread about school? Keep a journal.

Besides, if it's in the archives, you can still read it if you need to remember what you did

It's just that the end is getting close, and there's something nice about having the whole thing in one place, rather than track it between a couple of different ones.

When's the first televised spring training game?

Not soon enough.

Okay, I can see a certain method in that madness.

But, Scarlet. Darling. Wouldn't you feel just as happy after you complete your work if you had two threads? It's the class that counts, not your thread.

And since that old bugger Willets is giving you a 300 post limit, you'd have that much more room!

Digging through the archives for one thread is frustrating enough. Digging through them for two related ones that won't be collocated anywhere near each other would be a real pain.

If I had longer to go, then I'd be more easily swayed. But I'll be done within the calendar year. It would be nice to just finish things up in one thread and retire the complete set when the time comes.

The archives are easy. Search the archives page with your browser text search tool for the title and there it is.

Once found, it can be easily referenced by pasting the URL into the first post of a subsequent thread.

They're not that easy to search.

It's one slow growing thread with a finite end in sight. I don't ask you guys all that much around here. I'm asking you to leave this one thread alone, ok?

The problems started after I posted about my completion of that course, and when I went back to it a while later to read any responses.

(I'm on a different computer today).

I find it hard to believe that SK thinks it's so important to keep that thread
in tact - I think she has 'concede nothing' issues.

I find it hard to believe that the thread is the source of browser problems.

I find it hard to believe that cooby played all this meaninglessness into a 'is
one thread more important than an another' discussion.

I find it hard to believe I keep opening this thread.

I tried the thread the next day - same computer, same IE. The thread opened fine. Must have been gremlins. Or maybe the electrons hadn't recovered from partying over the long weekend.

I find it hard to believe that someone who keeps telling us how well thay are doing in all those computer classes finds it so hard to search a thread.

I visit this forum on five different computers running four different operating
systems and occasionally have problems on every one of them. There's a
lot of weird little crap going on here with the false registrants from all over
the world and foreign databases attempted to be added to the server. There
are times when I can't get on at all on a computer and another works fine. My
guess is there is hacker among us ... but who?

For my guess, send $5 and a self-addressed envelope to ....

Why would this thread die with SK's graduation? There are certainly other students here (SteveJ, Valadius) and a good number of educators (me, Old Mole, and a few librarians who work on an academic schedule).

Is this a school thread or a Scarlet thread?

ScarletKnight41

I'm fine with keeping it going longer. The admins seem hellbent on nuking it sooner or later, however. My hope is that they'll wait until I'm done before they do that - there have been times over the last year and a half that I have read through that thread sequentially, and it has become a nice memento of this journey for me. But if others contributing to the thread want to keep it going longer than that, that's fine with me.

Edgy DC

We're neither hellbent nor intending to nuke anything.

Monday morning in the pool and The Priest is BACK ...

Seek him here, seek him on the highway
Never knowing when hell appear
All await, engines ticking over
Hear the roar as they sense the fear

Wheels! a glint of steel and a flash of light!
Screams! from a streak of fire as he strikes!

Hell bent, hell bent for leather
Hell bent, hell bent for leather

Black as night, faster than a shadowcrimson flare from a raging sun
An exhibition, of sheer precision
Yet no one knows from where he comes

Fools! self destruct cannot take that crown
Dreams! crash one by one to the ground

Hell bent, hell bent for leather
Hell bent, hell bent for leather

Theres many who tried to prove that theyre faster
But they didnt last and they died as they tried

Theres many who tried to prove that theyre faster
But they didnt last and they died as they tried

Hell bent, hell bent for leather
Hell bent, hell bent for leather
Hell bent, hell bent for leather
Hell bent, hell bent for leather
