His first hit of the spring is an RBI double.

Mike Carp then doubles with the bases loaded to drive in 3.

Mets lead 4-0 in the 6th:
Glavine 3 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 2 K
Sosa 2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1K

Shutout innings make me happy.

Someday, Mike Carp will likely make the Mets. Noogies to the first guy to transpose the a and r in his name.

Two doubles and 5 RBI.

I don't like Carp very much.

I like him better with the error.

The story is Carlos Gomez pinch-hitting for Lo Duca and going yard.

7-2 is your final.

Carp with 2 doubles and 5 RBI but his error allows the only 2 Astro runs to score.

Carlos Gomez with a solo HR.

No earned runs on the day:

Glavine 3 IP, Sosa 2, Wagner, Heilman, Adkins, Collazo 1 each. Adkins gives up the non-earnies.

Carp giveth and Carp taketh away. Several annuals that rate minor leaguers (BP, BA) mention that Carp needs some serious work on defense, but they also say he has the potential to be a good power hitter.

Park's visa problem has apparently been squared away so he'll start on Wednesday.
And El Ducky is on tap for his first real start on Thursday.

I know I shouldn't get excited about a Park start and I'm not but it will be interesting to see how his spring goes....I read recently that he's 35 games over .500 in the national league.....

Park was a very nice pitcher when he first showed up in LA; he just hasn't been recently.

Maybe it was injuries, maybe the ballpark in Texas was responsible, maybe the pressure of his big contract got to him, or maybe he's just plain lost it.
But the team that went through not only 13 different starters last year but 10 of them before the end of May shouldn't be tossing aside potential help.

Cool sidebar to this game: not only did Julio Franco beat out an infield hit, but, at one point, the bases were loaded --- with Moises Alou, Julio Franco, and Sandy Alomar, Jr. That's 129 total years on the basepaths.

Today's Daily News has the following quote about that;
]Franco, Alou and Alomar all crossed the plate on a bases-loaded double by minor-leaguer Mike Carp in the fourth inning. "I just knew there was about 180 years out there," Alou joked.

I hope he can still hit better than he can count. :)

And a kid born in 1986 drove them all in.

Edgy, will I still get noogified if I say "Holy Carp!"?
The kid had a nice game.

I think all of the above. The change in leagues and ballparks probably accounted for what happened his first season in Texas, then the injuries started, and at some point the confidence went poof.

But there's a chance he could get "it" back for a bargain price, so there's certainly no harm in giving him a look.
