Pi Day Showdown: Mets-Tigers

Winner gets a Hostess apple pie.

Big day for Pelfrey (scheduled to relieve Maine) and Johnson (leading off).

So far Maine's given up a leadoff solo HR to Granderson but that's it thru 4 innings. I suppose Pelfrey is next.

Johnson is 0-2 and the Mets haven't done dick against Kenny Rogers.

1-0 Tigers

One would hope that prospect Felix Pie is playing in the Cubbies' game today.
Although, sadly for jokesters everywhere, he pronounces his name: pee-AY

Pelfrey is still unscored-upon this spring..

Gave up a few hits last inning but whiffed Carlos Gullen with 2nd & 3rd, 1 out then got Timo Perez to fly out.

Still 1-0

Kenny Rogers pitched well for the Mets. And that bases-loaded walk that he's reviled for took place in Atlanta.

Having the words NEW YORK on his jersey probably had nothing to do with the location of that pitch.

Pelfrey allows his first run of the spring on a solo Homer by Marcus Thames.

Punchless Mets lose 2-0.

Ben Johnson: 0-4

Doesn't sound like it would be fair to hold this one against Johnson, given that nobody else appeared to do much with the bat.

I blame Oprah Winfrey.
