PSIGT, 03/15, Red Sox at Mets (ooh, a night game)

CAESAR
Ha! who calls?

CASCA
Bid every noise be still: peace yet again!

CAESAR
Who is it in the press that calls on me?
I hear a tongue, shriller than all the music,
Cry 'Caesar!' Speak; Caesar is turn'd to hear.

Soothsayer
Beware the ides of March.

CAESAR
What man is that?

BRUTUS
A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.

CAESAR
Set him before me; let me see his face.

CASSIUS
Fellow, come from the throng; look upon Caesar.

CAESAR
What say'st thou to me now? speak once again.

Soothsayer
Beware the ides of March.

CAESAR
He is a dreamer; let us leave him: pass.

$6 seats going for $100 in the parking lot?

Beckett vs. Perez.

KC

Highlight of first inning? Perez K's both Ortiz and Manmirez (Keith thinks
he's dropped a lot of weight, I think he dropped the needles) and made them
both look a little foolish.

I doubt I'll keep this up, but wanted to start one ...

Edgy DC

Three straight Ks for Perez.

GYC
Mar 15 2007 06:05 PM

Perez is looking pretty damn good so far.

GYC
Mar 15 2007 06:09 PM

Struck out Ortiz again, 6 through 3 and 1/3.

GYC
Mar 15 2007 06:13 PM

Now he got Ramirez down looking on a 3-2 pitch. 7 through 4 innings, including Ortiz and Manny back to back twice.

Also, no walks. Looking really good.

And Manny looks really thin, at least compared to past years.

Not to be a post whore with my fourth consecutive post, but Perez's slider is sexy.

Edgy DC

Gets Murphy with one out and a runner on third.

Yeep, what an encouraging start this is.

Edgy DC

Strange, but Terry Francona is apparently sending his pitcher up there with instructions not to swing. Perez fans him for the second time (six pitches total).

Nine Ks through five, though two of them were gimmes. Go, Ollie!

Pedro just came into the dugout. Got a big hug from Rickey Henderson.

Keith lobbying for Wright to not bat second, and I agree with him.

Edgy DC
Mar 15 2007 06:39 PM

One argument against forcing the issue is that the Mets have a handful of potential #2s among their top prospects.

On the other hand, asking Wright changing his approach may work.

Edgy DC

I would've understood Olvier Perez better there if he spoke in English.

Pedro Feliciano on for the Mets.

GYC
Mar 15 2007 07:10 PM

Julio Franco sighting!

First pitch, hits it pretty well to right/right-centerish for a semi-difficult catch.

Edgy DC
Mar 15 2007 07:11 PM

Drivng the ball with authority.

GYC
Mar 15 2007 07:12 PM

And he remains in the game at 3rd. Good sign for his wrist.

Not to damperize a really encouraging pitching night, but we really oughta be scoring more.

Edgy DC

Your baby has a wet blankie.

You.

Edgy DC
Mar 15 2007 07:16 PM

Alberto Castillo?!

Johnny Dickshot
Mar 15 2007 07:18 PM

First time I've seen The Show in a Met joisey. He's got an 'S' tucked in each armpit.

Edgy DC
Mar 15 2007 07:20 PM

Yup.

Keith Hernandez is on the wagon.

Edgy DC
Mar 15 2007 07:24 PM

Ex-Mets are everywhere and helping to load the bases. Now Schoeneweiss has a baserunner under each armpit.

Castro with a dinger!

Two pages for a ST game ... I think we're ready.

Edgy DC
Mar 15 2007 07:33 PM

Castro goes kablamm! and Robs Sand-Guy of a save-opp.

Good for Keith for not taking his cue to whitewash Kuhn's legacy.

Kuhn directly succeeded Eckert? Talk about your empty suits.

Billy Wagner nearly gets killed. I nearly have a heart failure.

Edgy DC
Mar 15 2007 07:45 PM

It's looking like 2006. Lefties can't do anything with Wagner. Righty takes his head off.

GYC
Mar 15 2007 07:49 PM

It just wouldn't be a Billy Wagner 4-run lead without driving me crazy.

Johnny Dickshot
Mar 15 2007 07:50 PM

Yup.

KC
Mar 15 2007 07:51 PM

After Wags almost gets beheaded for the first out, a nice grab you'll likely
see on ESPN if you missed it ... he's lost it. Seems like a dozen pitches to
walk one guy, a wild pitch, I can't even go on about it.

Edgy DC
Mar 15 2007 07:56 PM

He also nailed Castro in the chest protector with a crossup.

Try that on Cap'n' Redass.

It's March 15 and I'm already having a coronary watching Billy Wagner enter a game with a 4-run lead. I'm definitely ready for April 1.

Frayed Knot
Mar 15 2007 09:10 PM

No one really hit Wagner all that hard (except for the one that almost decapitated him of course) he was just missing with his slider - or maybe it was that change he's supposedly been messing with ... I wasn't really watching that closely.
