Good article about the Joost guys in a recent Wired magazine. It's an interesting concept. Everyone who watches the shows becomes a supplier for them, because Joost stores its info in tiny peices on the hard drives of everyone who uses it. So when you order a show from them its actually peiced together from 100s or 1000s of other users. And it will all be legal and include commercials, but because they know precisely ehere the broadcast is going, the ads can be delivered with real precision (and there would be fewer of them -- no tampon commercials for guys, no diaper commercials for people with grown kids, etc etc). It really looks like the future of TV.

There's a Red Hot Chili Peppers TV channel? Seems like you'd run out of material pretty darn quick.

'The X-rated Sock Puppet Show' starring Flea.

Yeah but getting Viacom was a big deal, if only because they had a lotta stuff (illegally) uploaded to YouTube. I think all the traditional broadcasters realize today they have to make their shows available on the Net somehow but seem to be waiting for the right way to do it to be invented. If Joost works it might be that medium.

Got invited to the beta-testing for Joost, downloaded the program last night, took less than a minute...not sure what to make of it just yet,it's not like I can go watch RTE News from Ireland or Sky Sports, has a bunch of programming and all that but it's not live TV,I thought it would be.....still it looks like it has great promise and the quality is excellent,no stoping and starting like sometimes when you watch video online...when it did happen that program went of the air and you were told it's not available right now... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joost

Never heard of Joost before, but a similar program, SopCast, lets me get out of market baseball game MLB.tv style, without that pesky...uh...money part.

http://www.sopcast.org/ You can download the actual program there, and if you browse around the first link I posted, you should be able to find pretty much any sport you'd need. Most of these sites are based in Europe, so they've pretty much got all the soccer you could hope for.
