Tough to take every Monday morning on ESPN Radio where he talks about general sports. Essentailly what you would expect of a general opinion, nothing controversial but always heaping praise on those who take the Jordan/Tiger Woods approach of being a modern mega-star worldwide athlete (Jeter, ARod, Bryant (before Colorado), Duncan, the Mannings, Brady, (before the out of wedlock stuff) ect) for "doing it the right way" despite being so removed from them it's impossible to say such things based soley on what the media says. In essence a very un-informed view on sports outside of his Big-Time college hoops realm Also a big Yankee homer and Notre Dame homer (kids went there)

Dick Vitale is certainly enthusiastic about college basketball, but he could certainly afford to take it down a few notches. OO, I'm glad to see you're finally coming around. ha! ha!

He's a good analyst. Knows his stuff. Very emotional about his convictions. Impossible to take/ listen to for more than four nanoseconds. I didn't know which choice conveyed that. Later

Vitale is annoying to the point that I will turn away from a game he's doing or just hit mute.

Translations: "He's a good analyst" -- Talks a lot "Knows his stuff." -- Doesn't merely announce the sport but serves as a complete shill for it, for the coaches & teams playing that day, and, mostly, for himself "Very emotional about his convictions" -- Is really, really loud. He personifies, to me, everything that's wrong about sports announcing: hype, apologist, self-aggrandizer, screamer, etc. And with a resume like that is it any wonder why he's one of ESPN's stars?

When is Vitale going to say, "You know, it's a pretty uninspiring class of freshman this year." His hype has hurt the sport at the from junior high to the NBA.
