Miniwolf will be in also. (Peanut isn't sure whether he's in or not. He did really badly last year; maybe he'll just help Miniwolf.)

I'm pretty sure 'Nut beat my ass last year.

I'm Duck L'Orange.

well, you've all got a 1-point advantage on me from the start as i have my alma mater advancing out of the first round.

How do you access the bracket from Yahoo Groups?

Looks like a pretty strong field this year.

Whoops, wrong brackets.

Ditto on G-Town.

SI Metman
Mar 14 2007 11:37 PM

Gtown seems to be a popular pick round these parts...

Methead
Mar 15 2007 12:16 PM

I usually go crazy changing my picks down to the last minute... this year I didn't. We'll see how that goes.

cooby
Mar 15 2007 06:24 PM

Well heck I'm last

Nymr83
Mar 15 2007 10:20 PM

losing a few (or even half) your first round games doesnt really matter in a small pool... the important thing in the first round is not to lose teams that you had going further into the tournament

TheOldMole
Mar 16 2007 01:10 AM

Chalk 9 for 9, upsets 3 for 7 (but two of them were a #9 over a #8)

soupcan
Mar 16 2007 09:13 AM

So I see that I am dead freakin' last.

Our contest is one of two NCAA pools that I'm in. In the other one I submitted 2 brackets. One that I thought long and hard about and is exactly the same as the one I used for our pool. Needless to say I'm last in that pool as well.

The other bracket I entered in the other pool I threw together at 5 minutes before the deadline yesterday morning with little or no thought at all.

I'm in first place with that bracket a perfect 16-16. Go figure.

TheOldMole
Mar 16 2007 11:52 AM

Sorry, wrong thread.

Nymr83
Mar 16 2007 01:27 PM

Albany down 45-25 at the half, i think i'd rather see last year's game again, at least they covered by 10 points.

Nymr83
Mar 16 2007 06:12 PM

Well, i might be in 13th place but i haven't lost any of my elite teams yet so things are looking ok.

TheOldMole
Mar 17 2007 01:59 PM

I'm completely dead carrying Arkansas into the regional finals -- otherwise, alive everywhere else.

With a spring training game on and the Mets losing 13-sniffle, I forgot all
about the tournament. Priorities.

Darryl Strawberry Jr. and Maryland wuz robbed! Questionable charge called on Straw's kid near the end of the game.

Don't mention that name in this Pool.

My picks kick ass so far, by the way. (Stoopid Maryland.)

Terps are ass-raping me too. I had 'em in the final 4

You mean Peanut's?

seawolf17
Mar 17 2007 09:40 PM

No, I wish Peanut had made picks, but I was away for most of Monday-Thursday, so he didn't get a chance to make his picks. (You think I'm kidding, but he actually makes his own picks, choosing between food doots in each hand.) My wife thinks I'm crazy, so she didn't make the picks.

Actually, he could still make his picks, since he actually has no idea who's won any of the games... being just a dog and all that.

Which name? BTW, I'm a long time Big East fan, so everyone is good, UCONN, S'Cuse, Johnnies, The Hall, GTown, Nova, Pitt, Providence. Pretty much I root for all original Big East teams with the exception of my sister's ala mater, who I'm STILL waiting on on their wait list (and this was back in the winter of 94) The Boston College Eagles

seawolf17
Mar 17 2007 10:32 PM

It starts with "M" and rhymes with "Fichael Kay."

Well, my bracket's busted as Wisconsin falls.

Kid Carsey
Mar 18 2007 05:09 PM

I had a final of Wisc vs Texas A&M in this pool ... I'm half cooked.

Mar 18 2007 07:54 PM

I had Ohio State/Duke. I think Ohio State is the last team standing for me.

metsmarathon

i'm down notre dame and texas from my elite 8, and only notre dame in the final 4.

i still have a puncher's chance, i think...

Mar 18 2007 10:35 PM

Anyone besides me sick of hearing sports commentators crying about the players who aren't in this tourney due to the fact that they "left early" and aren't in college anymore?

Amazing how many of the same scribes & voices who will carry the torch for the right of players to hawk themselves via free-agency somehow also believe that certain ones should be forced to remain in a lower league for several years at absolutely no pay whatsoever.

Jeremy Schaap was the latest culprit this morning.

metsmarathon
Mar 19 2007 12:08 AM

yup. pretty much, i've come down to hating most of sports commentary.

especially since the only reason they want those players in the tourney is so that they can better enjoy the college game, which they now conclude is suffering greatly since all the good players leave early.

and of course, there were no complaints (or at least not as many) last year, when the games were more interesting and/or compelling, in large part due to a midmajor cinderella making it deeper than they had a right to, not because of some super-duper young phenom or two.

like they have this year with oden and durant...

cooby - "I had Ohio State/Duke. I think Ohio State is the last team standing for me."

You must have mistaken the Duke women with the men's team while making your picks..

Johnny Dickshot
Mar 19 2007 09:12 AM

Despite hanging around the top 5 most of this game I'm toast, half my final 4 is gone.

If the rest of us want any action for the remainder of this tourney, perhaps we should be picking which of the CPF Final 8 will go all the way.

seawolf17
Mar 19 2007 09:42 AM

Or Cooby thought it was 1997.

I'm surprised by how well I've done, considering I haven't watched any college basketball that hasn't involved Stony Brook all year.

Mar 25 2007 07:25 PM

And UNC falls apart in overtime, with G-Town coming out and ripping off 10 straight points. My bracket is still alive.

cooby
Mar 25 2007 08:07 PM

And UNC falls apart in overtime

That's a kind way of putting it

Rockin' Doc
Mar 25 2007 09:20 PM

I prefer to think of it as UNC getting their collective asses kicked during the last few minutes of regulation and then overtime.

UNC has(had) a tremendous team. They have outstanding talent and depth, their inside game is strong, they paly a good , aggresive man to man defense, and they can run with virtually anyone. However tonight, the Hoyas exploited the Tar Heel's one real weakness; the lack of a consistent outside shooting game.

I thought that Georgetown might have a chance of knocking Carolina off, but I truthfully believed that it would fall to Florida to stop the quest for a title. At least now my partner won't be talking smack tomorrow at work.

cooby

Slow sports day on the tube ... anyone confessing to watching Road to the
Final Four
and then two-and-a-half hours of The Final Four Show please
report to the fourth floor, room 444, for evaluation and shock treatment.

Baseball. Tomorrow. Thank freakin' goshbygolly.

If Ohio State holds on, all those Georgetown brackets will be busted, thrusting Team Dribble and Penetrate ever closer to a satisfying, victorious climax.

Methead

Apr 01 2007 12:19 AM

I'm afraid it's over, kiddos. No matter who wins the championship game, Dribble and Penetrate's lead is so massive, throbbing, and engorged that no one will be able to come from behind, pun intended.

Next year when it comes time to construct the brackets, I'll request Yahoo to provide me with only the colors of the teams competing to give the rest of you a sporting chance against me.

Driving to the hole,

you are in the 98th percentile and ranked 23654 on all of yahoo, if florida wins you'll probably be in the 99th percentile and top 10-15,000 thats pretty damn good (this is out of AT LEAST 1.5 million participants)

The day after Opening Day always blows when there is no game. The tournament final ought to help the sting a little.

I had quite a lucrative tournament this year. Let's just say the oddsmakers didn't respect Florida's blowoutability.
