Wow, he looks like Mr. Met's deranged inbred cousin.

I bet when he orders ginger ale he calls it a "ginger ale coke."

It kind of look like what you would get when allow a redneck baseball to mate with a bumble...

A quick look around the internet and it seems Homer has different faces
that aren't always as crystal methed out as that card. For some reason I
wasn't aware that Homer existed, and even thought for a minute that he
was a joke and that picture was to make fun of the Mets' mascot. But since
it's not a joke, where the hell do the Braves get off stealing the theme of our
main man? There are no other teams in MLB that have blatantly similar looking
mascots to that of other teams ... and first one to say it's the most sincere form
of flattery is gonna get a thumb to the eye and thrown into a figure four lock.

Judging from that Barber of Seville mustache, I take it he's a lot older than
Mr. Met? Oh well, another rant dismissed.

While we're whining over MIAs, let's hear it for martin's first post in two months.

I do believe VTMet nailed Homer's lineage best.

Homer, in the fine tradition of Chief Nok-a-homa.

Incredible!
They card a 60 year old when he buys a beer at the Ted.
But they have a mascot that looks like its on crack.

God knows the number of people who looked at thing before it got approved. How did not one of them say "WTF is everyone thinking?"

Anybody remember John Stearns getting mad at Chief Nok-a-homa, chasing him down and tackling him?

Credit to the long arms of Big Bro Ted Turner, I guess, but I can't find a picture of the Chief anywhere in cyberspace.

It was spelled Noc-a-homa, that's why. There are some pictures here:

And here's a nice big autographed one from the Chief in later years. I've posted it as a link so it doesn't fill up this page.

What a great metaphor that whole teepee removal thing was, huh?

I remember it! I even mentioned it in my ill-fated first round losing song in this year's parody challenge.

(Losing sucked, but I was consoled by getting the first crack at the shrimp buffet in the loser's lounge.)

Can someone find the actual game? As I recall it I was unsuccessful hunting for documentation of this attack, but I remember stories of it as well as anyone

What was Stoins mad about? Did somebody question Joel Youngblood's First Nation heritage?

Frayed Knot

As I recall, Stearns did it more on a whim than actually being mad at anything.
"It's just something I always wanted to do", he said (or something along those lines).

I remember the story of him doing it but don't remember seeing it or know if there ever was any video of it much less surviving video. It's probably one of those things that a lot more people claim to have seen than actually did.

P.S. There was always plenty of room for Noc-a-homa's teepee cuz in those days nobody went to Braves games.

My grandmother knew Babe Ruth. I asked her once about him.

"He was something. Big crazy guy but he was something. The way he'd point and hit a homer."

I got all excited I had evidence right before me that could clear up a historical controversy.

"Actually, wow, Nanny. That's a really disputed point. Do you actually remember seeing him point before his home run in Chicago?"

"Oh, he always pointed before his home runs!"

So, you're the one who ate it all before I got there!
The truth finally comes out.
