A shoutout to seawolf, who indicated that he would be at the game!
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 12:12 PM |
A five pitch walk to the first batter.
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 12:14 PM |
The first pitch to Loretta is a ball, prompting a "coaching visit to the mound".
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 12:19 PM |
A 6-4-3 groundout, a walk to Giles, and a fly out by Nevin, and the no-hitter is alive through one.
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 12:38 PM |
Nothing of note in the Mets half of the first or the top of the second. 0-0.
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 12:42 PM |
6 up, 6 down for Peavy. Still no score.

Through 4 complete, it's your New York Mets 1 and the San Diego Padres 0.
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 01:18 PM |
Young walks with two outs and is thrown out trying to steal second.
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 01:25 PM |
Castro! 3-0 Mets!

Ishii walks, and Reyes follows with a "soft single to right."
metirish Jul 21 2005 01:28 PM |
cool
Edgy DC Jul 21 2005 01:32 PM |
Reyes steals second, and Itchy scores and Reyes advances on the subsequent throwning error.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 21 2005 01:32 PM |
Gary described Castro's HR as "the hardest hit ball we've seen by a RH hitter all year" on a line over Casey's number.

Edgy DC Jul 21 2005 01:32 PM |
Then Cameron dubbles like Barney Rubbles.
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 01:33 PM |
I like Reyes batting leadoff, especially on a team with no other leadoff options.
Frayed Knot Jul 21 2005 01:33 PM |
The beat-down is on!
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 01:34 PM |
Now let's just avoid an Ishiimiddleinningmeltdown and rest Bert and Loop again.

Well that's not going to happen of course -- but we can take some solace in the fact that these are only games 7, 8, & 9 this year for us against the very weak west* which is less than any other NL East team. This could be time to make up some ground**. * I saw some 'Since June 1' records the other day: no one in the West had anything near a .500 mark. Colorado was actually best and they were all a bunch of 18-25 type marks (or worse). ** Last time we said something like this we wound up getting our clocks cleaned by Seattle & Oakland

I like Reyes, period. I wish he'd get on base at a greater clip but he has a high fun factor which shouldn't be overlooked.

Bert and Loop:
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 01:48 PM |
The top of the sixth started with a walk and a single, but Ishii pitches out of it.
holychicken Jul 21 2005 01:50 PM |
Elster, tripod is a beotch and won't let you link to pictures hosted by them. . .all I see is "hosted by tripod"
seawolf17 Jul 21 2005 01:52 PM |
Nah, I'm here. Decided it wasn't worth driving 90 minutes to see Ishii give up fifteen baserunners in four innings.
Willets Point Jul 21 2005 01:54 PM |
Who are these hitters playing in the Mets uniforms today?
duan Jul 21 2005 01:55 PM |
i've caught since the 4th innning and they've simply been playing great baseball.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 21 2005 01:55 PM |
Back to back (annnnnd uh-belly to belly)* singles to lead off the Met 6th
Johnny Dickshot Jul 21 2005 01:59 PM |
Speaking of Yankee greatness, Paul Quantrill surrenders a single to Minky and a run in relief of Peavy

Pinch-hitting for Ishii in a 6-0 game with 97 pitches logged in six innings.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 21 2005 02:08 PM |
This is a honest-to-Koosman beatdown, baby.
Edgy DC Jul 21 2005 02:10 PM |

Duan replaced Castro after tha homer and wasn't announced.

Leave Quantrill in! Leave Quantrill in!

Whatr a treat for all the kids at the game today.
Spacemans Bong Jul 21 2005 02:15 PM |
I love these new Good Mets.

Fantasy rule #1: Never start the opposing team's pitcher against your team.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 21 2005 02:31 PM |
seawolf - what are you doing here? I thought you were at Shea.
seawolf17 Jul 21 2005 02:34 PM |
I did the same exact thing this week. Nuts.
Rotblatt Jul 21 2005 02:35 PM |
Shouldn't Graves be pitching here instead of Bell?
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 02:36 PM |
1-2-3 innings for both Koo and Bell. Mets lead 12-0 going to the home eighth.
holychicken Jul 21 2005 02:36 PM |

Elster,
Actually, you can see it because your browser has the pictured cached and checks the cache first. Because we don't have the picture, tripod sends us that image. Bastards. And, I have Peavy too. I gaurantee that if I had not started him, he would be perfect to this point. So the mets and y'all have me to thank for this. *bows*

Ah, gotcha. I'll try to find a suitable replacement picture.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 21 2005 02:37 PM |
12-0 Mets going to the bottom of the 8th. They can almost trade grand slam homers for outs in the 9th.
Johnny Dickshot Jul 21 2005 02:38 PM |
Was hoping to get thru a whole series without seeing Hoffman, but this is the best time & place.
Yancy Street Gang Jul 21 2005 02:39 PM |
This lead seems to be Graves-proof.
Elster88 Jul 21 2005 02:40 PM |
Bell hitting. Looks like he'll finish it. I wish I was home. I always like to watch relivers hit. Between Koo and a Franco at-bat from years ago when his helmet looked to be crushing his head I've seen some funny ones.
Frayed Knot Jul 21 2005 02:50 PM |
Graves is pitching the 9th - no sense wasting a PHer - and isn't doing hisself any favors w/2 singles to the first 3 batters.
Frayed Knot Jul 21 2005 02:52 PM |
But he gets out of it and preserves the shutout.

I'm at work so I'm not watching the game but through two games Ramon Hernandez is not all that impressive, small sampling I know but what do you guys think,Rick Peterson likes him from the Oakland days, who else is on the market?
duan Jul 21 2005 02:55 PM |
fucking cool game.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 21 2005 02:58 PM |
Ramon Hernandez was an all star (was that last year or the year before?), and he has a reputation for handling pitchers well.
Diamond Dad Jul 21 2005 02:58 PM Get out the brooms |
Is this the first sweep of the season??
seawolf17 Jul 21 2005 03:01 PM |
Number 3. They swept the Reds at Shea and... I don't remember the other one.
ScarletKnight41 Jul 21 2005 03:02 PM |
They swept Houston at Shea in April (you were there for the first of those games <g>)
Edgy DC Jul 21 2005 03:30 PM |
Scoreless inning by Graves is gravy.
