Fran Healy on Jose Reyes:
]"A lot of people forget that he lost a lot of time due to injuries the last few years."

Funny, but I don't remember forgetting that.

Today's interesting pregame note, from Mike Cameron. User question: "Who's the funniest player on the team?"

Cameron's answer, without hesitating: Ramon Castro.

Gonzo doubles hard, Atkins grounds out hard to move him to third, and Holliday whacks a single hard to left, and it's 1-0 bad guys.

Ishii sucks.

The bottom of the first was fugly, with a missed catch by Piazza and brainlock by Wright where he didn't get the lead runner. But, in the end, the damaged was minimized. 1-0 Rockies after one.

seawolf - MK was looking at your names for the Rockies and he was totally cracking up over it <g>

ScarletKnight41
Jul 26 2005 09:33 PM

Ugly top of the second. Wright singles, but Piazza strikes out when he can't check his swing and then Wright ends the inning by being caught stealing. Ugh!

ScarletKnight41
Jul 26 2005 09:51 PM

Cairo lays down a perfect bunt, steals second, and scores when Reyes legs out a single. Tie game.

3 runs which are unearned - yet earned.

ScarletKnight41
Jul 26 2005 10:03 PM

Darn - I have to re-log in for MK. He wanted to post.

MiniKnight
Jul 26 2005 10:05 PM

Who knew that an error could cause three runs?

Then again, some of it was sloppy pitching.

ScarletKnight41
Jul 26 2005 10:18 PM

The Mets strand two runners and it's still 4-1 in the middle of the third.

MK stomps off to bed in disgust.

(Actually, MK's mean and unreasonable parents let him stay up past his bedtime already, but it's late and we sent him upstairs. He's leaving the television under protest.)

Have I mentioned, for some reason, I have resisted putting Ishii on my fantasy team. He is the only Mets regular I don't have, except for Beltran, whom I can't pry away from this person who has him

I hate Ishii.

ScarletKnight41
Jul 26 2005 10:39 PM

D-Dad and I hat Ishii. But I can understand your decision to add the "e". Especially tonight.

ScarletKnight41
Jul 26 2005 10:41 PM

The pitcher's best friend ends the 5th without any further damage.

D-Dad just summed it up perfectly - "We've got to get some fucking runs in freakin' Coors Field!"

Out of town, Matt Clement got sconced by a line drive tonight, something Ishii knows a thing or two about.

Atkins didn't put enough carbs into that throw.

Rox infielders poor throws and double-clutches have represented the extent of our offense tonight.

This road trip smells like the end of the season to me. Archive that.

Cool low camera angle behind the plate on the Rockies feed.

Frayed Knot
Jul 26 2005 11:04 PM

Edgy DC

First basemen not picking tonight.

Piazza reaches on an error and the cries of "Let's go Mets!" dominate.

Edgy DC
Jul 26 2005 11:13 PM

Edgy DC

Reyes shows his newly-found restraint and walks.

Bases packed for Cammie.

metirish
Jul 26 2005 11:20 PM

Bases Loades for Cameron, Cohen tells us that the Mets are 2 for 44 with the bases loaded with 2 outs..

metirish

Woody, Cairo, pinch hitter.

According to Gary's OoTS, Clement is conscious and in good spirits.

Ted and Fran are loving Fuentes, who overmatched Woody and Cairo.

2-2 on Ice.

Elster88
Jul 26 2005 11:58 PM

Chopper bounces off of Fuentes' glove, Ice reaches first.

Edgy DC
Jul 26 2005 11:58 PM

Ice reaches with two out on an infield single.

C'mon kid...

Edgy DC
Jul 27 2005 12:03 AM

Cam goes down looking again.

I thought it was low, but what a bad game for Cameron.

Poo.

Elster88
Jul 27 2005 12:04 AM

Reyes with a double scores Williams.

Cameron strikes out, I don't think he swung once.

FUCKING SHIT WHY THE FUCK DO THE METS LOSE TO A SHITTY TEAM WHENEVER I START TO THINK THEY ARE IMPROVING.

metirish
Jul 27 2005 12:08 AM

Did Cameron SO looking three times tonight or was that my nightmare?, I suppose this is what a .500 team does, get four over and lose two...tough start to the road trip.

Centerfield
Jul 27 2005 10:29 AM

I think we should stop saying how this team is poised for a run when they come up upon a "soft" spot on their schedule.

This series sucks donkey balls.
