Rehab Thread

  • Steve Trachsel is to make his second start for the Mets' St. Lucie affiliate in the Class A Florida State League on Monday, some four-plus months after undergoing surgery on his back.

  • Kaz Matsui, on the disabled list since June 18 because of a severely bruised left knee, was to begin baserunning drills Saturday as part of his rehab. If his leg responds well, he probably will play in a rehab game in Florida. The club is not about to rush his program or his return.

Think I saw that Orber MOreno is off the 60 day DL and has been sent to Binghamton to start his rehab.
EDIT: Tried to verify this on the minor league transaction page, but couldn't get the link to open. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For players or posters?

Some days, it just isn't worth gnawing through the restraints.

I think he means player rehab.

FWIW:

Will Carroll is reporting that Kaz Matsui may be done for the season - meaning the Kent & Soriano rumours might have turned up a notch.

caroll

only gave us the injury spiel today

"The Mets are increasingly pessimistic about the return of Kaz Matsui this season. Knee problems still have the 2B hobbled, keeping him from doing more than light jogging at this stage. The best case scenario is now becoming a return to the bench sometime in September, forcing the Mets to stay with Miguel Cairo at second. The Mets will likely move Matsui in the off-season, with some rumors saying that Matsui is contemplating a return to Japan."

I wonder how much they really care.

Not for nothing, but you needn't be logged onto a pay website to acquire that news.

Especially if they are being paid by insurance for time spent on the DL.

I'm not so sure they have insurance on Matsui.
Policies like that aren't automatic, they're quite expensive and hard to secure.

Trax to make a AA start sometime this weekend.

Kazzy in the Gulf Coast League has a HR last night and a single today.

Trax threw 5 IPs and about 70 pitches at Bingo today.
Maybe just one more rehab start.

Then what's the rotation, and who do we deal?

TheOldMole

Just wondering...the Mets can't deal Trax (assuming they wanted to) because he's on the DL, right? But could they offer a player to be named later in a deal, and have it be Trax?

Yes Mole.
That's the way teams can get around the "can't trade a player on the DL" rule.

Keep Trachsel, trade Ishii.
