From this thread, I'm curious what you imagine various alternative managers would get out of the 2007 Mets.

I'll play for the fun,but I do think that Willie commands a level of respect that ensures his team doesn't quit.

IMO Randolph is a wash over the course of a season, he doesnt win or lose more games than the average manager, whatever that is.

My thought is that 5 games are a lot, probably reached only by the very worst and best skippers alone, and not completely in isolation.

my thought is that neither could any of us, nor mr. or mrs. random drunk mets fan, get the team to play hard every day for us, nor could we maintain a focused team throughout the course of hte season, as i doubt the players would have any respect for us. and while some players can manage and coach themselves, the majority cannot, at least not for an entire season.

you don't want me coaching 3rd... I will send everybody. Let me coach 1st. I'm less dangerous there.

John McGraw: Brings back the forgotten art of "inside baseball," with psychological intimidation as important a weapon as home runs and strikeouts. Larry "Chipper" Jones reduced to tears on the field by Mets' taunting, led by McGraw. During the course of the season, every single Met decks McGraw in the clubhouse. 102 wins.
