Philly, quaint college town
Farmer Ted Apr 06 2007 03:02 PM |
From the Philly Inquirer.... The Phillies said yesterday they would look at ways to improve college nights at Citizens Bank Park after Wednesday's first college night got out of hand. Rowdy fans threw objects from the upper deck onto the field and fans below. There were 31 ejections Wednesday, which is higher than normal. There also were reports of fights. If they were playing the Mets, you know who would have been blamed.

I'm always amazed but never surprised at what teams will do to get fans to come to the game, you think anyone said during a meeting that college nights might be inviting trouble.

HIgher than normal? 31? I'd say a normal game at Shea sees one or two on Maybe I'm wrong.

My guess is a big fluctuation at Shea depending on the day of the week. Having a Tuesday/Friday plan this past year, I'd say Friday nights probably were in the 8-10 ejections per game range. Still, 31? How much more than normal is the question I'd ask.
