Mets 3, Nationals 2
Florida 11, Atlanta 4
Oakland 5, MFYs 4

#3 was Saturday, April 22:
Mets 7, Braves 2.

I liked that movie.

soupcan
Apr 30 2007 07:00 AM

Good movie ('Get your ahss to Mars') and I think the image is okay because it seems to me that not one of the three of those are real.

After the Mets and Yankee games ended yesterday I was flipping around for more baseball and found the Braves game on TBS.

The wife had a friend over and the three of us were in the living room with that game on but the TV on mute.

As the two of them are yammering on I watch Chipper Jones hit into an unassisted triple play. I said 'HEY! Check it out! An unassisted triple play! Wow! You don't see that every day! In fact you never see that! Wowee!, check out the replay!'

Their reaction? Rolled eyes and right back to their conversation.

Frayed Knot
Apr 30 2007 07:15 AM

That Unassisted Triple Play was pretty funny.
- First of all it was pulled off by that rookie SS Troy Tulowitski who we just saw for the first time the other day. Dude's in the big leagues for about 20 minutes and he turns one of barely a dozen UTPs in MLB history.
- and he should really get credit for about 5 outs. After snagging the line-drive; he stepped on 2nd, tagged the runner coming from 1st (the runners on 1st & 2nd were off w/the pitch) tagged him twice I think, then went back step on 2nd again before deciding that that wasn't enough so he threw to 1st. Jeez kid, act like you've done this before Okay?!

Johnny Dickshot
Apr 30 2007 07:18 AM

Couldn't help but notice the other nite at the game that Turlowitzski is a heck of a fielder with a pnematic cannon for an arm. We were sitting field level, 3rd base, and had a nice view of his perspective toward 1st. You could hear his throws whistle.

soupcan
Apr 30 2007 07:25 AM

But triple hottiness makes me happy!

Centerfield
May 14 2007 08:22 AM

Yesterday's Triple Happiness was especially happy considering a lot of other games went our way too. To make it official:

5/13/07 - Mother's Day

Mets 9, Brewers 1
Pirates 13, Braves 2
Mariners 2, MFY's 1

Also adding to our pleasure:

Red Sox 6, Orioles 5 (Boston scores 6 in the 9th, the last two on an error to push the MFY's 8 back)
Cubs 4, Phillies 1
Nationals 6, Marlins 4 (One team in the division had to win, might as well have it be the one in last)

Savor the day folks.

A triple triple ...that ninth inning of the Boston game was fun to watch,Millar made the error?...

Centerfield
May 14 2007 08:39 AM

The error was charged to Chris Ray, the O's closer. He was late to cover first, and then missed the throw allowing the winning run to score. The throw was a little behind him but it looked like something he should have been able to handle.

5/14/07 - Not an official triple happiness, but it's about as close as one can get on a day when the Yankees are idle.

Mets 5 Cubs 4
Nationals 2 Braves 1
Yankees were off
Red Sox 7 Tigers 1

Edgy DC
May 16 2007 10:58 PM

5/16-17/2007:

New York Mets 8, Chcago Cubs 1
Washington 6, Atlanta 4

Yankees split a double header with the White Sox.

... Not quite.

MFS62
May 17 2007 06:50 AM

If the Yanks had lost the double dip, would we have had to start a quadruple happiness thread?

Later

That would be a 3.5 happiness. This is 2.5 happiness.

Thursday, May 17th:

Mets 6, Cubs, 5, after a five-run Met rally in the ninth.

Nats 4, Braves 3, after a two-run Nat rally in the seventh, started by a Met-in-spirit Jesus Flores double.

White Sox 4, Yankees 1, behind seven innings from American hero Jon Garland.

Centerfield
May 18 2007 09:29 AM

The date should be May 17, 2007. There may well be tripple happiness today, but it's too early to tell. BoSox sweep a double-header pushing the MFY's back. Philly and Florida lose as well making it a very nice Triple Happiness.

I think we need a ruling on this - the first Sox/Braves game should count toward Friday triple happiness, and if the sox win tonight, then we will also have Saturday triple happiness.....

Rockin' Doc
May 19 2007 08:04 PM

Sounds reasonable. Of Course, I'm willing to settle for quadruple happiness tonight should the ruling go against your proposal.

Unfortunately, the Braves currently lead the Red Sox by a score of 11-0 in the eighth inning of the nightcap.

All three games were finishing right around the same time while I was at a family party, I told a fellow Met fan cousin of mine that this was still a good day regardless of the Red Sox final, because it was a Triple Happiness Day. He got a good chuckle out of the explaniation.

Let's see...Mets win, MFYs lose, our nearerst pursuer loses...

I'm pretty happy (though a deceptively venal friend suggested it would have been even better if the Braves had won on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to a vulnerable area of Mark Teixeira's anatomy).
