Also of note: the players take the field to Vertigo, U2 and the song played after victories (this year's Takin' Care of Business) is I Just Want to Celebrate by Rare Earth.

|
Gwreck Apr 09 2007 07:00 PM |

Ditto and Amen. "TCB" just grates on my nerves. I'll take Motown over that any day.

Is it just me? At the game yesterday, I never noticed anyone's theme song. I did notice "Lazy Mary."

I noticed that an ELO song was played for one of Wright's ABs but now I don't remember which on song it was.
|
Gwreck Apr 11 2007 02:40 PM |
Are you sure it was ELO? Sources seem to indicate that these are David's 4 songs:

That David Bowie Fame song is god awful/ear catchy all in one song.

Anyone catch Tom Glavine's AB song?

Bump

Gwreck Apr 20 2007 10:08 PM |
Updated 4/20. Pelfrey didn't use Heat of the Moment tonight. Maybe it was a one-time deal. He definetly had a song when he was warming up in the first but I couldn't catch what it was.

Gwreck Apr 22 2007 04:05 PM |
Updated with a new LoDuca song and some confirmations of people keeping the same songs from last year.

You lied to me Gwreck! They played that shite after the game Saturday in an effort to try to ruin my happiness.

Thanks Martin! Will add it to the list.

Thanks Martin for the contributions! Also have a second song for Heilman this year. Lots of yells at the Cowbell man during the playing of it tonight. Don't think he got it.

Several updates -- but also, notably, the Mets have jumped on board with this idea as well: Link.

I think Paul Shaffer should just choose everybody's song.
|
Willets Point May 01 2007 11:59 AM |
I came up with an idea a while back that the Mets (or any imaginative team) should have an in-stadium band that plays music much the way the organist was common in the past. It would be a way to get a contemporary sound into the ballpark without just spinning the the same old records played everywhere and it would be a unique promotion.
|
Edgy DC May 01 2007 12:03 PM |
That's a good idea.

It amazes me that a convicted pedophiles music gets played anywhere.
|
Willets Point May 01 2007 12:10 PM |
A moratorium on "YMCA" and "Sweet Caroline" (excepting Fenway Park) would be welcome too.

Patzachry. The question is whether the man has been getting resituals from the public performances to help pay for his defense or his flights to new hunting grounds.

Joe Smith definetly has a song used each time he comes out. I just can't figure out what it is. If you can help...please do!
|
Batty31 May 20 2007 06:49 PM |
Although he doesn't use it as entry music, Volare is played quite frequently during LoDuca's at bats.
|

Reyes is one of 3 players to use the song "Chacarron." The song is hilarious, huge hat tip to GYC for showing it to me.

Newhan has switched to Mo' Money, Mo' Problems by Notorious B.I.G.
|
bmfc1 Jun 06 2007 03:43 AM |
I thought I heard Diana Ross's "I'm Coming Out" when Newhan came up last night. I also thought that it would be an unusual theme song for a ball player as it's a gay anthem--not that there's anything wrong with that!
|
Edgy DC Jun 06 2007 05:46 AM |
Everything is a gay anthem.

LOL, you're dating yourself. As GWreck noted, the song is Mo Money, Mo Problems by Biggie Smalls. It uses the beat from I'm Coming Out. Lots of rap/hip-hop these days uses beats from old songs. They call it sampling. Even though some of the songs come out good, I call it a lack of skill. Steal a beat and mumble some gibberish loosely in time with it and you've got a hit. (And I like Mo Money, Mo Problems, as well as some others) What was that line way back in season 2 (1?) that Christopher said when Hesh and the rapper got in a spat?
|
bmfc1 Jun 06 2007 06:37 AM |
Elster88--HA! Thanks for the update. I'm not familiar with "Mo Money, Mo Problems" (although I am familiar with Willy Mo Pena and, sadly, Mo Vaughn). I know what "beats" are and what sampling is but to me, these "artists" should come up with their own music.
